I really loved the visual of this game, i didn't realize it was a horror game until the first jumpscare lol. The locking mechanic to prevent death is really good, i just couldn't play further bc i was always dying after the pair of eyes appeared on the screen. This is a great game and again lovely visuals!

Yes - I'm new to game jams!
How does your game fit the theme?
The game is about fear of starting things.
How even simple stuff can be made to be daunting if you never tried them before.
Also the pause menu mechanic where you kind of constantly 'start' the game.
The real game also starts a bit later than expected.

Thanks for playing! Yeah the eyes get a lot of people lol ( you have to close the pause menu for a moment ). I plan to add tips and make it overall more clear and readable on what to do in an update. I'm glad that a lot of people are still enjoying the visuals, despite that issue! Thanks again!
( PS: I really liked DEER!! Very cute game. )
Aesthetically, it's really good, and I really like the messaging and theme of procrastination. You nailed the visuals and the ambience, the sound design was really well made and the uncanny low poly feel definitely reminds of good analogue horror videos. Admittedly, I'm horrible with horror and would love a "soft jumpscare" option because I wanna play through it (because again, I like the messaging behind it), however I am a personified baby and honestly that suggestion is solely just for that LOL. But I really like the idea, it's very well made, maybe I can get a friend to play through it. (Also, a tutorial would be nice because I did not know the switches locked the doors until I read it in another comment, but that was already mentioned). Overall, amazing game :D
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed the style! I wasn't considering a 'soft jumpscare' for the game, but I'll add it to the list of things for the update, thanks for the suggestion! And yeah making the game more clear, and tips after you die to a specific thing are all on the list, so stay tuned lol! And since you liked the themes, I also plan to rework the intro and ending a bit, since this is a pretty rushed version of those. Again thanks for playing and the kind words!
fun: scary vibes, I like it, need a tutorial though, took me forever to realize I need to press E 😅
Presentation: really love the vibe, sound design is good as well, did you draw them yourself?
creativity: not bad, love the screen on the left, but it's a bit too big, fits the theme, nice
Thanks for playing! I agree tutorial is something I forgot about due to time, Ill add it in an update! Everything in the game is drawn by me ( except for the floor texture, thats just a picture of my floor lol ) and 3D assets are also made by me, while my friend rainfour did all the sounds ( except for the music in the intro ). Glad to hear you liked it ( im currently playing through your game and Im enjoying it quite a bit! )
W graphics it's a lil tough the vibe too great game for the first game jam your just like me
Would appreciate ur feedback on my game
I went at this for a bit, but it's tough. I could never get past that second carrot lol. I did learn you can block doors with the switches if there are eyeballs in the door. Which was neat. The art is awesome for this type of game, and the aesthetics are awesome. I did have an issue where I got locked into washing a carrot for eternity, so I had to restart that one time. No other issues. Well done

Thanks for playing! Sorry about that, the game is a bit hard and doesnt explain itself too well lol. But glad to hear you enjoyed it! The washing carrot for eternity is certainly a new one, Ill have to look into that bug since that wasnt even on my list to fix since Ive never seen it before lol. Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks for playing! Truly an honor to be compared to Petscop, thanks a lot! To explain it a bit, at some point I tried going for this vibe I called "cursed CD game", so it ends up kind of similiar to that. And yeah, the game isn't explained well at all, since I was focusing on getting the game working in time, so I kind of overlooked that, but I'm happy you were able to figure it out anyway! But I plan to make the game explain itself better in a future update, along with other stuff I had planned. Thanks again for the kind words!
Nice work, esp for a first game! I think my only suggestion would be to make the carrots easier at the start, there is 0% chance that I’m cutting more than 1 carrot.
I love scary games so I really enjoyed this one. The jumpscare definitely got me a few times lol Great work!
I'll be real I'm very bad with horror games so I just forced my friend to play this one for me instead of playing it myself, but I understood the mechanics pretty easily, he just really SUCKS at cutting carrots. I wonder how he plays undertale.
Anyways really cool game and design (reminds me a lot of ENA but I'm sure I'm not the first to say it, and not in a bad way) especially for a first game! I'm sorry you have to deal with perfectionism I absolutely get it </3
Thanks for playing! Yeah, usually Im the one playing the horror games, and streaming them to my friend so I know how that is lol.
( fun fact: the placeholder for the .png knife image was literally called 'undertale' )
You actually are the first one to say that she looks like ENA! I never realised when making her, but I kept thinking "hmm, she reminds me of someone", but now that you say that, I see it! And excatly, the difficulty of the carrot cutting was on purpose, so there was a real possibility of messing it up, good catch! Thanks again for the kind words!
I should write that im not usually a fan of a game having a mechanic thats overly hard without there being a reason for it, but it works well with the overarching themes of this game and its in a pretty controlled environment that can be used to learn it decently well by just playing the game, so I respect the decisions surrounding it a lot in terms of design & storytelling
