Yes - I'm new to game jams!

How does your game fit the theme?
As three unemployed engineers, we fully know the feeling of waking up in the morning and having no agenda, no stand ups, no obligations, and no income. And with the job market the way it is now, it might seem like there all hope is gone. Having survived the DotCom Bust (one of us) or the Financial Crisis (two of us), Funemployed was forged in that spirit of perseverance and rebuilding to bring a bit of humor to a unfavorable situation. Whether you are a fresh college graduate or a grizzled veteran looking for the one last rodeo, gulp down that cup of joe and get out there. We can make it. We can find a way. We will be ok, as long as we Just Get Started.

There are quite some minigames in this game , music gives a good vibe to the overall experience. I was kinda expecting some story , but oh well , with minigames it didnt really matter

Developer

Thanks! Yeah we ran out of time for adding more of the story elements, so we just doubled down on the gameplay

We'd love to add more in an update

Submitted(+1)

Can i get a rate , i kinda want that double 0

This game hits home, i loved the idea. If Karl Marx played this game he would've written Capital 2

Developer

I tried to convince KappaJo to put in the Soviet National Anthem on the FIRED screen ;) Thanks for playing.

This is awesome! The music is great, and the minigames are so fun I could play them forever. I love how the game speeds up, which gives you some anxiety, and makes the game more intense. An egg got stuck on my screen, which kind of made the rest of the game a bit more hilarious, but I love the abstract realism!

Developer

Thanks! Maybe the stuck egg is a metaphor lol

Fun set of mini games, love the theme of sticking with it no matter what they throw at you.

Submitted(+1)

i love the minigames and how the music gets faster at the end of each one, a bit like the last lap in mariokart, and the cake minigame overloads with cakes at the end lol :))

Developer(+1)

Thanks! The final Mario Kart lap was a major inspiration (I even referenced the lil jingle in the music), glad that came through

Fun mini games. They are engaging and creative.

Awesome job!

enjoyed the minigames and the humour, kinda wished there was some kind of an "ending" to it afterwards but i suppose the gig economy is forever

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, we ran out of time for adding a proper ending/endgame, def on our list of things to update

Submitted(+1)

I may be the worst gig worker but I'm having fun.

Really stressful yet calming game πŸ˜‚
The minigames games were great, took a bit to understand what's going on, can't really say much cause it's already a pretty solid game, the core elements are there, it's addicting, got the number go up aspect already, not much I can add besides even more minigames, my favorite was counting beans haha!
Overall solid game, great job team, congratulation on releasing your first game!

Developer

Thanks!

Yeah, I think the main thing we're looking at adding is more content and tying the games together more w/ the money-making mechanics

Cool game. Got fired from all my jobs, but at least the letter of dismissal was funny.

Developer

Sometimes the best we can ask for, thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Oh wow, I don't know how you managed to create a calming, yet stressful game, but here I am playing it and loving it! I thought this was going to be a calming experience but as the music got faster and the machines started to go crazy,  the stress started to increase! This was very fun to mess around with and to repeatedly get fired haha. Great work!

Developer

Everything's chill until it's crunch time, eh? Glad you had fun!

The music and vibe was very inspired by the last lap in Mario Kart lol

I am always going to be a big fan of recreating phone UI in a game. I think that brings up a bunch of interesting questions about what model phone it's going to be based on, what the app icons are going to look like, and what will it be able to do. It's always fun to test it out and see how much functionality it has. Nowadays, it feels like all I need to go looking for a job is just a phone. So this felt very natural. I don't know if you remember the old Game-and-Watch games on the gameboy color. But it has little mini-games about making a cake that this reminded me off. I also appreciated the variety of games and mechanisms you all put together. Overall, great showing.

Ran out of time. We were gonna do voicemails and texts and stuff. Thank you for playing!

Nice game! I really liked the idea and had a lot of fun playing it!

Lol, I'm a terrible, terrible employee. I loved the minigame and just breaking the company's machines.

Developer

Aren't we all lol

Breaking the machines is our only form of protest!

Submitted(+1)

Super fun and totally engaging. I had a bunch of fun getting repeatedly fired. I was evidently not very good at counting beans.

Slow Clap GIFs | Tenor

Def surpassed my expectations. I only got to negative 6 figures

Love the variety of mini games, it would be cool to be able to spend the money on cosmetics or something by the end. This would be a great mobile game with touch controls!

Developer

Thanks! We're definitely thinking of porting this to mobile and adding more progression

Submitted(+1)

an awesome game I really like how things start flying around with physics🀣🀣

Submitted(+1)

Such a fun concept and a really good execution to ve honest. Really good ouns as well, def in my too 5 this jam

If you feel like it go give my game a rey as well, would love your thoughts

Developer

Thanks, @quietcoro will be happy to hear somebody enjoyed the puns (that's kinda his whole deal lol)

Submitted(+1)

Congrats on your first jam entry! This game is really funny. Between all the puns, the company and boss names, and the horrible boss attitudes (I loved the Pin Guini accidental text), I was genuinely chuckling. I wish I could say it wasn't realistic or relatable, but honestly aside from the bosses being animals, it was pretty much an accurate job sim. The variety of mini games was great,  and why was the cake one actually really fun though? The UI and whole experience was really polished and looked great. The whole phone idea was a cute way to have it all set up.  The egg game seemed a little glitchy for me, but I was doing so badly that maybe I just messed it up on accident. I liked how chaotic it all got as well. Kept me from accidentally taking the game too seriously. Great job on everything!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Definitely tried to ride the line between frustrating and funny, glad we hit that balance for you

Also,  loved Cloud Collector!

Submitted(+1)

The fact that the game starts while reading the tutorial is great, really liked that, also how crazy they get spawning things overflowing the screen or in the cake and icecream one where it looks like the machine just breaks because things start flying upwards, it was funny, pretty fun game! it really nails the theme.

Developer

Thanks! We really tried to make the tutorial as interactive as possible and get right into the games
