Very cohesive game and I think you did a great job with the concept.

Cool game!

I liked the mechanic that you had to press CTRL to reduce the darkness from consuming while defeating enemies.

However, i feel like the game's mechanics are spammable without downsides.

For example, the CTRL button could have a delay to when the player is able to attack again, like 1 second or 2 seconds, preventing him from being able to spam CTRL to being in a safe ish position to shockwave the darkness.

Still, nice game.

Simple but effective gameplay loop, I think you'd have to change something up with the shock wave was pretty much spamming the button so it would fire as soon as it went off cool down, which meant the darkness was never really on screen.

I like a lot of the artwork and the shockwave effect is really nice, I spent a lot of my run admiring it.

Great twist for a classic game.

I think the shockwave to fight the darkness needs more development as I could just spam it without consequence. I feel an exploration mechanic where the darkness is removed as you explore would work well; the shockwave cooldown would limit progression speed and make the use of more strategic.

i got to 97 before a lethal pincer attack got me. nice work on this!
