Nope - I've completed at least one game jam before.

How does your game fit the theme?
It's about starting fires! You're also a new cultist just starting on their first ritual. Unfortunately, you're not very good at it, and the demon doesn't seem to be too happy...

A very entertaining game. The sound design quality and the graphics were top notch. I especially liked how the character moved, seemed like a fun combination of vector animation and pixel art that I thought was cool. The animation for the demon spawning was great as well, excellent stuff. My only notes are maybe giving some kind of information that swinging the axe is J when next to the trees. Also, having the game restart after the cutscene, so I didn't have to watch it again to get back into playing.

That was a very fun game to play! I found myself replaying it to try and get better scores each time. I especially enjoyed the art, animations, and music. They all blended very well together and the music really got me immersed in the game. I liked how the darkness slowly engulfed your screen as you went further out and the scratched drawings and writing on that screen really gave it that supernatural-cult feel.

Great work!

Nice work, I love how the trees bend in. While I definitely wasn’t a good cultist, I felt like I’d add a lot of wood but still didn’t get much light out of it. I certainly didn’t solve it for my own game, but I wonder if there’s a way to make the final moments feel better, I’d still try “gathering in the dark”, generally without success but all the nearby trees where gone so I’d just have to wait for my impending doom. Still, very nice overall!

Yeah I completely agree with you! We weren't really able to playtest until the last day, so I absolutely think that the balance of adding wood versus light needs a lot of tweaking still to find the most rewarding gameplay loop. Finding that balance has definitely been one of the harder parts of this game for me at least. Thanks so much for the feedback and for playing!!

That was really fun! I loved trying to go around and figure out the most optimal tree chopping spots, I loved how it gets darker the further away you are from the flame and the music begins to get distorted this is very polished and well done I had so much fun

Thanks so much! Really glad you had fun playing!
