Newbie?

Nope - I've completed at least one game jam before.

How does your game fit the theme?
We took the spin as it is a monster who is just starting out building his dungeon lair from scratch. from the ground up place traps and hire monsters to help defend the key to hell

it's a cool idea, i've been playing for a while and it is fun!

i really appreciate the difficulty slider and at the begining it would be nice a short tutorial, but after a few tries i understood the mechanics

Submitted

Cool backwards concept of the heroes being the enemies. I thought that the difficulty slider was really neat and intuitive. I got softlocked when the placement system seemed to bug out, and the back button in the menu seemed to freeze the game, otherwise I had no major issues. Totally a great, simple, and fun tower defense game. Adding a health bar would be good

Had a blast while playing this game! Simple yet effective gameplay loop, and its so satisfying seeing my minions essentially having a war with the enemies. My main strategy was having to kite the enemies while my mages shoot at the back, once the wave was over i spawned even more mages, rinse and repeat until i couldnt spawn anything lmao. Also im not sure if im too overpowered or theres lack of progressive difficulty, but the enemies were really easy to kill at the later stages. Also i think it would be nice to have the pillars in the room to stop projectiles and have collision. Other than that, super fun game! Awesome visuals as well

THANK YOU for playing glad u had some much fun with it. Ya the mages are very op.  The progressive difficulty was mostly done through more enemies it didnt increase the spawnn speed or enemy health so with the mages (which were a little too op) they could kinda spawn trap after a while since the enemies didnt spawn in fast enough to counter the dps u put out. Those pillars and things should be acting as colliders no supposed to? Either way glad u had so much fun and appreciate the feedback.

Really enjoyed the game. Some of the bugs made it a bit annoying and a few things could be added like maybe a way to tell that the player was low on hp. But even then, still enjoyed and found the game cool.

THANK YOU for playing glad u liked it. Ya honestly with a solid extra few hours of playtesting and debugging the next day after submission made a big difference. But should have been done the last day of the jam definitely wouldve mase a huge difference. Ya agreed the player health can be a bit confusing since theres no indicator he heals between waves but kinda hard to tell when u need to retreat without some kinda health bar. Appreciate the feedback

Great game! I really liked the idea and the art, there are a few things that could be improved or fixed in the future, but overall it was an enjoyable experience.

Developer

THANK YOU for playing ya after finishing i wish we wouldve set more time to playtesting and debugging the last day. But overall I took the day after to fix alot of the bugs people mention here and im happy with how it turned out.  im glad u had fun

Cool art! However, there's so much bugs that ruins the experience. When you die, you can't restart (when i played), if you don't place your chest in any place at all, you can literally just start to kill all the enemy waves without them attacking you. Even by that, the game has potential and with the proper debugging and etc it would be super cool!

Developer

THANK YOU  for playing and ya needed a little debugging but ended up submitting it at the very last second before jam closed.  Glad you liked it and ya the day after jam closed i ended up fixing alot of those bugs like the enemies not ignoring player when it dies (thats what breaks them not stealing from ur chest to trigger the loss which allows restart). Wish i would've just play tested bugs the last day wouldve helped alot. appreciate the feedback though

Interesting spin on a classic dungeon game! Love the visuals and gameplay was fun.

The game is really fun and is quite unique. I don't want to sound too negative because the gameplay is really fun but some feedback I would give is that hitboxes were far too large on the enemies you place down when I had a good run and the dungeon is filled to the brim with traps and enemies this meant I couldn't move because the hit boxes were too large. The game does look good but I didn't like the combination of the pixel art and the hand drawn art style. I am assuming this is because you used 3rd party assets which is completely fine, just wished the style was consistent.

THANK YOU for playing it glad u were having fun. And dont worry ur way less mean than i probably am on the flaws i see in it compared to the vision lol.  Ya the nav mesh obstacle avoidance definitely can be a bit of a headache  if u have ur dungeon getting full. Appreciate the feedback

Being the dungeon master rather that the hunter feels a nice change of pace. The VO could’ve been a bit less robotic as it’s hard to understand, but I totally get the vibe you were aiming for.

THANK YOU for playing and ya thats was my original thought too like  i have played so many dungeon crawlers but haven't built many dungeons myself.  Ya the voice over was a little last minute trying to keep it more thematic while explaining how to play  kinda backfired since i didnt have time to make sure the voiceover was clear. hope u had fun though

Great game! I love to play as the dungeon master! But the game are still having some problems like the voice in opening are quite hard to hear, maybe having subtitle can improve the game!

Developer(+1)

THANK YOU for playing hope u had fun. ya some many games you have to clear dungeons so it felt fresh to flip it on its head and run the dungeon

The only major problem I experienced is that I found an exploit - starting a few waves in, I just had to place a bunch of the most powerful monsters (they have ranged attacks), start the wave, then stand far enough away and then just let them fire at the enemies. They just stand at the portal entrance and soak up the damage until you (the player) approach them.

But in all seriousness, I had fun

Developer

ya i did see this playing it after we submitted the speed ranged monsters fire is kinda OP. I also kinda fixed this by spawning enemies faster too so u cant spawn trap so easily.  .  My favorite runs so far are trying to use as few ranged monsters as possible definitely increases the difficulty. THANK YOU for playing glad u had fun

I am sorry but I didn't enjoy the game at all, this needs some work, the premise is good, but execution is lacking.
list of issues I had:

  • When fullscreen, UI gets squeeze into each other sometimes.(most likely cause I'm in a 2k monitor)
  • Units and Traps are unclickable after choosing one option.
  • Voice over was difficult to understand.
  • A lot game mechanics weren't really explained well, it would've been nice to have a line from the portal to the treasure to indicate the optimal path for the "Heroes"

I have a lot more to say but I'll leave it at that.

Ya  thing first  time with web gl and didnt think past a for a 1920 monitor res. U just have to right click the mouse to remove item from ur hand just put that into the controls.(adventurers dont know ur dungeon so they explore it not take optimal path) appreciate u at least giving it a chance

Nice! The opening voice is kind of hard to understand at first. This feels like it could really become a great piece. Reminds me of War for the OverWorld.

Solid B+

ya the voice was added in last minute wanted to have athematic way to explain how to play but turned out a little gargled. THANK YOU for playing glad u had fun
