it was comfy driving the boat around! gibbles is best fimsh

Developer

Gibbles is the best fimsh! Thanks for noticing.

Submitted(+3)

Really fun game! It was cool seeing all the different art styles at play here. The gameplay loop is intuitive and relaxing, and I really enjoyed the twist at the end! I also appreciate how many settings and accessibility options there were, including the ability to remap controls and adjust the sensitivity of the mouse.

Control wise, fishing sometimes felt a little bit awkward with having to drag down the mouse to cast the fishing line, mainly because the mouse starts in the center of the screen which limits how much room the mouse has to drag. Maybe you could change it to just holding the mouse button down to increase how far the fishing line will go after you release the mouse button?

Besides that, really nice work on this one!

Developer(+1)

Controls are a definite agenda item for the debrief. They were generally workble, but could use some refinement.

Submitted(+2)

Art and vibes were immaculate. I spent a ton of time just exploring the map. Very cool game.

Developer(+1)

thanks for playing

Submitted(+2)

It's a fun game with nice vibes!

Unfortunately in terms of accessibility I struggle with doing the circular motion required for reeling fish in so I couldn't play it for too long, would've been nice to have some alternative. But it looks like a fun game!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Can I ask what might work better? Personally I've been pondering touch screen controls for the game, as a learning experience, but in my head a gamepad joystick would be the easiest to do circles with.

Submitted(+1)

A joystick is a good solution for sure

I don't really blame you for not considering accessibility in this aspect, I didn't even know I struggled with this myself until two games this jam used this input method, but I thought I should mention it

Submitted(+2)

Really liked the weird vibes and funky assets
- Sound design is good
- Favorite part was the weird fish and artifacts to fish out, was very curious to see them all and wish there was a way to document if/when I had

Managed to craft the first item but didn't do anything so I got lazy when I couldn't find the last slug. Hope I didn't miss much more lol

Developer(+1)

The final potion is out there, and the story gets some resolution 😉

Thanks for playing and the feedback!

Submitted(+2)

I completely vibe with this, the aesthetic and the mood is just great.

I also just love fishing games, more so horror like fishing games. It wasn't exactly horror but it had that look to it.

Something about the photo realistic arms for finishing just really look great. Ending made me chuckle, nice work.

Developer

Thank you for playing :D

Submitted(+2)

I like the setting. Strange,Chill and a bit spooky . Pulling up odd catches kept me curious.

Really great game :D

Developer

Thanks for playing! I like your profile pic :D

Submitted(+1)

Thanks :D

Submitted(+2)

Nice work on the atmosphere and sprites, it felt creepy yet funny. Great ending!

Developer

thank you for playing!

Submitted(+2)

Cool idea! I liked the art! I got the vibes of cast and chill in the beginning :https://store.steampowered.com/app/3483740/Cast_n_Chill/

I had to switch to a mouse (trackpad doesn't let me fish, everything seems to work except for the actual casting)

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! We'll see if we can do something for trackpad users since it seems to be a common issue.

Submitted(+2)

The recipe effects, and ending comments, were amusing. Driving around to fish was an interesting concept, but to begin I just started fishing and got plenty right away, including a recipe, so it feels like the bubbles needed a bit more to be worth hunting them.

Developer(+1)

That's very interesting. Thank you for playing and sharing feedback.

Submitted(+2)

Game feels great for an open world fishing style. Very fun fishing mechaninc although I could fish non stop at any place. I really loved the boat driving, maybe the player could see more of the map while driving. The world also feels nice and could be filled with more interactions. In general a very good game with great potential. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I really wanted to make more assets but I had a kidney stone in the middle of the jam. You can fish it out of the lake if you want haha.

Submitted(+2)

This game had such a cool eerie vibe - the bubbles mechanic didn't make sense to me as it seems like I can fish anywhere - otherwise it was a really surreal slightly goofy experience, the ending had me smiling.

Great game, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! The bubbles make it so that it's almost instant to get a loot instead of waiting 10-15 seconds. It's supposed to convey and increased amount of activity under the water 🤷  I'm glad you liked the ending :D

Submitted(+2)

The game has an awesome atmosphere. Unfortunately, I struggled to activate the fishing mechanic on my trackpad (likely my issue, not your game!).

Quick question, how do you make the loading screen appear as Godot Wild Jam instead of Godot? I really want to use that technique in my next game jam!

Developer

It's under the project settings: application/boot_splash/image

Submitted

Thanks!

Developer

Thank you for playing. I didn't think about players on trackpads when designing the mechanic tbh since it's a 3D first person view game. I'll make sure to play attention to that for future projects.

Submitted(+1)

That's wonderful! Wish you have a successful game dev journey :)

Submitted(+2)

Great atmosphere, and I loved the assets. Really nice processing on the textures!

Developer

Thanks so much - I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere!

Submitted(+2)

The graphics of this game were really good, I actually quite enjoyed driving around in the boat too. Reeling the fish was a cool way of doing it rather than just having someone mash a key but actually casting the line was a bit weird feeling. Other than that, I love the vibes and atmosphere of this game, it had a creepy undertone to it that I really enjoyed

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

Submitted

You're welcome!

Submitted(+2)

Loved driving around in the boat. I think the fishing controls could be improved a bit, casting the line was kinda hard. Loved the creepy atmosphere and the weird fish.  nice job!!

Developer

Thank you for playing and thank you for the feedback!

Submitted(+2)

Good job on the game guys! Really liked the graphics - I could see this being a game with a longer story, I'm sure people would find it charming.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I always worry extra about play time and people's attention span in game jam since I assume everyone wants to try as many games as possible but don't have a ton of time. This time I might have gone overboard with how short I cut it though. :D

Submitted(+1)

Oh you think it's too short? I don't believe so! I'd say it's about the right length for a game jam, it took me about 20 minutes to finish the game.

Developer

No, not the entire game, just the story was a little too short.

Submitted(+2)

I love the 3D art style and the fishing mechanic was implemented VERY well. It felt so fun to wish and reel it in and get the fish. The art was really cool too. Good work!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! This was a really freeing game to design fish and such for. :)

Developer

I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed the fishing mechanic because I have some tweaks and features I would have loved to implement  if I had more time. But that's always how it goes with game jams. Thank you for playing!

Submitted

Yea, in my game I really wanted to add more SFX but I just didn't have enough time! Also I would really appreciate it if you could go checkout my game!

Developer(+1)

will do :D

Submitted(+2)

Cool game, love the vibe!

Developer

Thank you! :)

Submitted(+2)

Cozy, yet dreary little game. Having a tutorial is very appreciated! Game seems a bit directionless, which held me back from playing more. All I could think was, what is my objective here?

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

Thanks for playing - I'm glad we were able to ease you into the gameplay! As for the objective? It got cut short since our adversary liked to swim out of containment. He may be patched in at a later date.

Developer(+1)

Will be patched in!
I've fixed the swimming-off-into-the-void behaviour which makes it much easier to detect the player.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. During development, I was trying to make sure that the game wasn't boring to players and kept the narration very short. With hindsight I realize giving a bit more of a backstory about the character, the lake and the recipes would probably make it less boring. Thank you for playing!
