Nope - I've completed at least one game jam before.

How does your game fit the theme?
The game was built around the story of the character. It was about starting out on her journey of revenge, to find the nitrous black hat mafia and put an end to their reality bending schemes. With one of their own devices she aims to do just that…. Done solo in 5 days

I'm sorry I didn't get to your game during the rating period! I just ran out of time at the end. But I'm here, I played it anyway, and I'm glad I did! This was a really fun game! I loved the mechanic, super creative, and the lore to go with it was a nice touch. Only thing I would say is the jump is huge and the movespeed is pretty high - but all the levels are like, tight corridors? I don't think they fit very well together, especially with unforgiving spike hitboxes everywhere haha. I think the high movespeed and punchy jump arc also made the A and D platforms really hard to use effectively. I'm sure there are ways to iron those issues out, either through level design, or re-working the placement mechanic or the character movement or something. I think the idea of the vertical platforms is really cool, so I would hate to see them removed! I loved this game, the concept was really neat, the art was super well done for just such a short time, the little tutorial graffiti was perfect, and even the music fit the theming. Really nice job, I'm super impressed!

wow thanks for the feedback.  Yes I would agree with all of these. points and plan to create a better test for this game however I may have killed my computer so it may take longer than I once expected. Thanks for playing though!

I loved the platform creating mechanic, super creative. The pixel art and animations are beautiful and very cohesive.

Loved the pixel art and the main mechanic of building your own platform, great job! I would appreciate in the game or the game page some tutorials about the game controls.

This game is really good and unique. The music and visuals are solid and overall it's really nicely polished, if a bit short.

One thing I would say, I never actually used A or D because my monkey brain kept brute-forcing the simplest approach (S platform for everything) which worked very well in this case. I do think maybe there should be a limitation, like each stage could have a set amount of each platform type available?

I actually quite liked the speed of the character (only because the responsiveness is good enough to match), though I understand where the other commenters are coming from in saying the speed is too fast. I think it's because the level design is pretty tightly packed with spikes; right now, the spikes are the main lose condition of the game, so it makes sense they would be hard to avoid... but it can be a bit frustrating.  I think if you implemented the "limited amount of each platform per level" and then redesigned the levels so that running out of platforms would be the main lose condition, then the player speed would be an asset here instead of a liability. But I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Overall, very cool game and quite polished, I'm impressed you did it in only five days!

I never used the A or D in my testing ether… I think I may just remove the side platforms themselves as the S platform works just as well… I also think that it may help if I limit the platforms to only spawn after the one you already made has been deleted… I don’t know but I may try other solutions too. Thanks for playing and suggesting

This is a very well-designed and underrated game! I like the unique concept of being able to build your own platforms where you want, and combined with this control scheme, it works very well. The movement options feel great, though the wall jumping can feel a bit off with how you can attach yourself to a wall a bit too easily when you don't intend to, but aside from that, it's pretty smooth. Beyond that, I can't say much more that others haven't already or that you already probably know, so I won't. Instead, I'll say that I'd like to see more, this is a very solid game you've got developed here, and I hope you can flesh it out more in the future. I'm looking forward to it if you do plan to continue developing this game, and wish you the best in doing so

Wow very unique mechanic! ✨
I had so much "aha!" moments with this game, it really felt good to solve the puzzles, super impressed with the platform spawn mechanic, very unique and satisfying to use. Though there were a few moments when the platform spawn felt OP, I can just spawn the spawn and go up straight, which defeats the reason to wall jump, might wanna consider some sort of limitation. Overall super fun mechanic, cannot stress that enough, good job!

I really enjoyed this game, and the wall-jumping is really well implemented… Spawning of platforms is very creative idea, but I think that besides that one wall-jump the majority of the game can be beaten by just spamming the platforms below the player, which is a bit underwhelming… I think that the charather isn’t too fast for the platforming, but rather it’s a bit of level design issue, like in the attached image you can clearly see that this is a safe space to stand on, but I died almost every time I tried to go there image.png

perhaps I missed a hit box… quite careless. Thanks for showing me. I would definitely like to make this more polished after the jam ends.

The platforming is definitely on point, and the ways you can summon platforms offers several ways for players to get through each stage. I found that you move pretty fast in this game – almost too fast. I think some sort of middle ground between moving fast and moving too slow might help with this. Otherwise, this is a solid platformer!

NGL I have played around 50 games in this jam so far and this is for sure in my top 3 (maybe 2).

I absolutely love the pixel graphics, the retro chiptune 80s sound blends in so seamlessly.

I think I am in love with Eden, I have a strong attraction to brunettes. I love all her animations too, amazing job!

Difficulty is right on point I would say, not too hard not too easy.

I missed out on the last gem! But got all the others and made it to the end. I may  go back get that pesky last gem!

I would love for you to expand the game or make something similar would be down to plat for sure. Great work!

wow thanks! And nice job getting all the gems! I also would love to make this a full game! There was a lot of cut content for even this game jam version so I would love the opportunity to try to flesh out this world even more

I'm sorry but I think the levels are not well designed

character movement was a bit tricky to get the hang of, I’m so used to A/D to move. The speed might be a bit excessive,  but its a fun game and very challenging. Great job, love the art.

I don't like this genre of games, but this is very well done. It has an interesting mechanics and is very well put together.

Nice game, but it was a little too hard. And the character is so fast.

Great game! really nice art, sound effects and music fit in well, movement feels really crispy. It would be nice if you disabled the wall hanging when the player has an upwards velocity because right now I felt like it gets in the way sometimes. Good level design; it was pretty difficult since some jumps require pretty precise timing. I didn't need to use the vertical platforms for any of the levels though; would love to see a level force you to use these.

Developer (1 edit)

I would love to see some of the vertical platform levels to. I just was unable to think of any during the time crunch… an I liked your idea by of disabling the wall hang with upwards momentum.

Thanks for playing and for suggestions

Great game! It is very visually pleasing
