I got jumpscared so hard my wife had to check in on me, lol. This was really cool, I love the art style and visual effects you used. Gameplay is simple but nerve-racking, the dinos cute but deadly. Well done, great atmosphere here!

Developer

Oh jeez! Thank you so much!! We call the dino the "Tinysaurus Rex" lol

Very polished game and pretty good in terms of visuals too! I did fall for the first jumpscare since i didn't read anything prior to starting it, but as a fnaf like with a twist, It is fun (or hooky? if thats a word) to play. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Unfortunately the Markiplier approach of not paying attention to instruction isn't very effective lol.

Pretty fun take on fnaf and gamer from Game and Wario. Genuinely had me a good bit tense, kind of gives off the vibe of a really good Help Wanted minigame.

Developer

Thank you! What's funny is I got the idea for this game from the Mangle mini-game in the vents from Help Wanted 1.

I'm usually not good with horror games, but I also love dinos so I played anyways. Thankfully the cues were easy enough to hear so I avoided any spooky jumpscares. Probably just needs another dino or some mechanic to add complexity and make it easier to get distracted and slip up. Obviously little time to add all that in a jam though. Great work!

Developer

Thank you! I did try to keep the fact that not everybody participating would want to be jumpscared in mind during development. Im a fuller release I agree with you and some complexity should be added.

Great world building and super creepy atmosphere. I loved the stress of being hunched over the computer while hearing all the creepy noises around me. Great job!

Thank you so much!

Just realized that you also made UNIT a couple jams ago which I also loved.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Wait really that's crazy!! I gotta keep it up for jam #84 lol

Man, this was stressful. I liked that.

I think there is a bug where the dino can get closer to you while you are looking at it. Or was this intended?

Developer(+1)

Thank you! The Dino moving to a spot you're looking at isn't exactly an intended feature. However I was worried that with a game jam time limit, that if I tried fixing it then worse bugs would spawn with no time to fix them. On future releases/updates, I will resolve this issue.

That was pretty cool, a solid well put together game.

You captured that kind of found footage VCR look and the audio for dinosaurs was done well, maybe adding some fake outs would help keep things tense.

Developer

Thank you!! That's an interesting idea I didn't consider, I might try implementing something like that in a fuller release.

This was AMAZING! FNAF 6 + Jurassic Park vibes! I was absolutely tense the entire time and found myself double-checking every noise to make sure I didn't become dino lunch! I even ran out of flashlight power at the very end and it made for an ultra tense moment waiting for the last loading bar to load! Loved the sounds, the intro, the controls, the atmosphere, and the gameplay! The subtle additions like the "PROPERTY OF DINOLAND INC." and "Benjamin T." (lore??) were super cool touches and really contributed to the killer atmosphere this game has! Would love to see this expanded upon in the future!

Developer

Thank you so much!! We definitely want to expand this concept in a bigger release with a complete story with extra world-building lore.

FNaF Pizzeria Simulator but with dinosaurs. Nice!

All in all, a pretty good game. The tasks actually need your focus, too, which is nice. The only thing I'd wish for is more audio clues, even if very subtle. That'd make the game a lot more atmospheric, which makes for a better horror game, in my opinion.

Developer

Thank you! I absolutely agree and in a fuller release I will definitely have more audio cues.

Nicely execute concept. First time I saw the Dino it was right in my face, so good job on the jump scare. Forced me to be more cautious in the next round.  Seems to be a bit of a bug in the first task where there isn't always enough shapes to complete it.

Developer

Thank you! Funnily enough that's the only task that I didn't find any bugs with, I will look into it.
