Nope - I've completed at least one game jam before.

How does your game fit the theme?
It's a game about growth. Growth that can only occur once you *get started*. You're set to traverse this freezing landscape - *starting* bonfires along the way - bonfires that help keep you moving forward by strengthening your movement abilities.

This was really fun! i loved the mechanics, love the power up for the fire to be implemented into the double jump, super tricky aspect of the puzzle piece and got stuck after first double jump, but love the concept really great for a game jam! All-be-it im not 100% sure how this relates to the theme, kinda feels like you slapped in "Getting started" just in the button.

the game was really fun and pretty! you managed to create a nice progression with very few elements, made me wish it had more levels to play. the character is really cute and the ambiance was well done. could definitely see myself playing a more in depth version of this game!

Pretty fun game, loved jumping, though you could have used slippery ice and it could use more ideas, overall had fun playing, throwing stuff into fire like Little inferno is kinda my thing.

Pretty fun game. The character design is cool and I also liked the mechanic for the extra jumps. One thing that I think would make the game better would be some sfx for the different things in the game (jumping, double job, lighting fire etc)

wow the game was really fun and creative! I liked the mechaninc of the double jump it felt really good. at first at the end i thought it was a bug or an exploit that i could basicaly fly if i time my jumps propery but no, you made perfect use of that and it was amazing. I genuenly don't understand how you got time to make such a beautiful 3D game in this time period

Cool little game! simple but effective graphics, I liked the SPOILER mechanical twist at the end where you can continually jump since the gauges recharge fast enough. I think maybe the double jump could use a little quirk, like maybe instead of a jump it's the little flame that pushes you away so you have to time it so it's in the direction you want to go, but otherwise solid entry!

Thanks for the kind words !

Yeah, I had a few ideas for more physics related tricks in there, something along the lines of alternate pick-up items that augment how your fire jump functions while holding them. Unfortunately wasn't able to make the time for it haha my brain getting scrambled latter part of the jam

The overall aesthetic is pretty great, but I do think it could be improved with some more variety in the gameplay.

Developer

Thanks !

Yeah def agree, first solo game jam in quite a while so need to get into the groove of making games again.

I like the aesthetic and mood of the game! Could've reinforce it a bit more with SFX for jumping and landing, it would've made it a bit more satisfying!
The gameplay was a bit lacking imo, I wish there was some sort of puzzle element or more interesting ways of jumping, REALLY liked the ending bit tho, that was good!

Thank you! Hoping to make some time after the jam to push an update with SFX, VFX and more polish.

I agree with the gameplay being lacking though ! Much of the level design needs quite a bit more inspiration. Thanks for the feedback ! :)

Great game but at first i accidentally dropped a wood into the void and it didnt respawn so i had to restart to game. Nice work.

AH ! there should be a fallback that respawns it in its original poisition, must've missed some areas. Thanks for letting me know!

Getting this error when trying to run  the game in browser :(

Error: Couldn't load project data at path ".". Is the .pck file missing?
If you've renamed the executable, the associated .pck file should also be renamed to match the executable's name (without the extension).
Developer

Oh no ! Not sure what could be causing this, just checked my exports and everything seems to be named appropriately 😔😔

It worked now, not sure what happened before.

Gotta be honest, one of my favourites so far! The winter climate combined with the graphics reminded me of Lugaru lol. The final jump was a great mechanic with having to time powering up the jump, I think there's a lot of ways you could potentially expand on this game (it does stand strong on its own as it is though). Really enjoyed it!

If anything I'd love to see a tiny update to add sound effects for player actions, especially having snowy stepping sounds would add to the vibe even more.

Developer

Great to know that it ended up working! Much thanks for the kind words :)

100% yes though on the SFX ! Sadly, wasn't able to make time for it during the jam, might do a quick pass after the jam with some extra polish on the vfx and UI as wel..
