Newbie?
Yes - I'm new to game jams!
How does your game fit the theme?
My initial inspiration for this game was the Star Wars opening crawl, since it is one of the most iconic starts of a movie ever. I wanted to have a car race between the letters, but racing top to bottom just felt so unnatural. So I went with a falling, bouncing ball instead.
Of course I could not use the original crawl text, so I wrote a little story that fit theme of this game-jam. A call to action to Just Get Started.
This is my first ever game that I have made (without a tutorial). I really enjoyed the whole process. Going from initial idea through all the struggles of making it work and then making it look and feel nicer. I have learned so much in this past week!
I hope you like me little game. Enjoy :)

Cool game. I like the inspirational message.
Really creative idea! Loved that the increasing challenge of each level was to have the font space/size to be more cramped. The bouncing felt a bit random for me tho, but the multidirectional movement made it really fun. Also my total time was 145 seconds. Great job!
Glad you noticed that the levels are (supposed to be) increasingly difficult.
145 is actually a really good time! Thanks for sharing. I really want to make a high-score system next.
Exactly what I would imagine happening on the credits growing up
What a great idea, the ball reminded me of those old-school cartoons where it follows the text of songs… Well if your goal was speed, maybe having a timer a tad more readable would have been great, and also I loved how each bounce really sounded you were falling into some sort of well, and the random leaves really emphasize on that feeling :) I think just a tiny touch of having letters semi-transparent, and then full-golden on collision would be amazing, but overall the game is really fun as it is and it fits the theme so creativly :D
Thanks for playing my game. And thanks for the feedback, that's really helpful! I love the idea of the letters changing color or transparancy upon a bounce. I will look into how I can make that happen. Thanks!
Nice inspirationnal game :)
Tho the goal of the game is to go as fast as possible so it is hard to read. Thank you for putting the read all text button at the end !
Thank you for playing my game!
Hey! I really liked the message. Amazing entry. Super cool idea with the star wars like crawl text.
You know... I love to see people starting making games. This may sound silly, but it took me SO. MANY. YEARS. To finally complete something, to put something out there and see people playing it. It was a monochromatic card game, with no sound but a lot of sweat haha, on a Ludum Dare a few years ago. I never stopped since, and I don't plan to. I have nothing commercial yet, but I've been joining so many jams, making good and bad games, and it's always such a fun playing lots of entries and joining new communities. It fulfills me.
Great job with this one! Keep at it!
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
Yeah, I only started with the game-making a few weeks ago really. And I am so glad I joined this jam. It has been such a great experience! very fulfilling indeed! I hope to continue this journey too.
...I-it's just a ball man... ...why am I crying?
In all seriousness though, really inspirational, something a lot of us (me included) needed to hear (or read I guess).
As for the gameplay, fun. If you ever plan on building on this idea, making the ball race up is also a fun possibility.
...I got stuck on a S... ;-;
Haha :D.
Thanks for the nice words! It was 99% the theme and the way Shovel said it that made me join the jam. So I am glad my story's message comes across. :)
I like your idea about racing up. could make a maze puzzle game with this mechanic. or even a sort of platformer.
Were you soft-locked on the S? I was afraid that there would be many possibilities for soft-locking, but I never managed to get stuck during play-testing.
Simple but addicting, especially with the perfect little bounce sound effects. I think choosing the ball instead of a car was the right choice, it allows for really chaotic bouncing and it feels more "zen". Great job on your first jam!
Thank you! I am also glad I made that decision. I think the music really sells the " zen-nes" of the game. This was not intended initially, but I am happy with the way it turned out.
Thanksfor your feedback!
short and fun game, i liked the music and the texts
idk if its a bug but when i keep pressing A or D the ball doesnt move, it only moves if i spam it
Thanks for playing my game!
You indeed need to spam it. Each press is one little puff of air. So you need to continually let puffs of air out to keep afloat so to speak.
Thanks for the feedback! I will add some instructions to the game description.
Oh god! This game is a beautiful work of art! I really liked the idea of boucing the ball beetwen the texts (I always do with lines intead of balls in the school books lol). Simple and creative, Great!
Haha, I always drew doodles in my school books :)
Thank you for the kind words!
Loved the text and the conceit. I could see high score chasing.
Thank you!
Yeah, I really wanted to add a high score. I think that would add a lot. But I could not figure out how to achieve this on web-game on itch in time. It is definitely something I want to add in the future.
Loved the Star wars text inspiration, it was original and fun to have to navigate through the text, and the ball (once you get the gist of it) is fun to control. Good job and congrats on your first jam!
This was a cool game. The controls were interesting, I wasn't very good at first, but I could see with practice you could become really precise. I also really liked the leaves as speed indicators!
Thank you for playing my game!
157s : ^). fun lil game
Thanks. That's a pretty good time! :)
i tried to cheese it by going through the sides but you had thought of that heh.
For a first game jam, simply amazing! This was so fun to play! I want more, haha
Thank you! I did initially want to add so much more... like all sorts of power-ups and more levels etc. But I am glad I realized that was not feasible for this jam. I may add some more stuff after the jam.
Cool game with nice message. Not something I've seen done before.
Thank you for playing my game :)
Nice game with an unique concept, theres no other game like this in the jam!
Thank you for the nice words! :)
Nice job! I am right there with you on making a "Whole" game without a tutorial we very satisfying.
Thanks!
My total time was 154.54 :)
I love the pixel perfect collisions that make it feel totally fair when you mess up. I also like that the burts of air are a very unique movement mechanic
Thank you for the feedback. 154 is a pretty good time! (I wish I'd had time to add a high-score system, but maybe that's something for a future version)
The controls are nicely thought out. The bounce and control feel accurate, I enjoyed this game
Thanks for playing my game :)
