How does your game fit the theme?
I couldn't do the story cutscenes in time so I had to improvise with how it was told (you'll know when you play lol). It's a story about a guy who was reluctant to try something because he was never good at it, and because he lost someone close to him. He always associated the hobby with the sorrow of losing that person. The friend he lost had a catchphrase: "Just get started". Doesn't matter if you fail, as long as you at least try, and continue to try. This game is about him overcoming that pain and just getting started on this hobby.

This game is so damn good . The physics are so good, the sounds are nice, the 3rd art is amazing. What an awesome level of skill from someone who has just learnt godot. Respect!!!
I LOVE THIS GAME! what a great first game (also i'm just a sucker for racing games) :)))
Wow love the vibe with this one ✨
I love the part with audio indicator on the side of the road, that was sick, goes hand in hand with the artstyle and music, it's a very upbeat premise, I like it. Though the car physics sometimes is kinda weird, but I do like the bumpyness feeling to it, I just wish that it felt more like a proper car.
Other than that, core gameplay is quite interesing, just need more polish and this game will be quite special!
As a fellow newbie, congratulation on finishing your first game! 🎉
OKay okay okay I suppose this is my fault that I forgot to rate this gem of a game early on, I downloaded this, played it for an hour and woke up to this game still running on my laptop, lmao
Fucking awesome game though, for someone who learnt godot during the course of a week only to dabble in fucking 3d AND MAKE A NEED FOR SPEED MOST WANTED PHYSICS SYSTEM
what the fuck, even I can't be insane enough to do that, AND SOMEHOW SUCCEED
i can clearly see the inspiration from camden beach and rosewood highways and tunnels from most wanted, i want you to let this cook
justice for ben
the car physics is really fun, the track is very well put together, I like the visualizer in the second track and besides the already mentioned bugs and issues in the game the only addition I wanna make is the minor one that the screen is in aspect stretch, so window size alters the look of it without properly adjusting, but this is easily fixable with one menu option in the engine.
It's such a chaotic game which is why for some reason its good , the drifting mechanics are also fun. I had Initial D's gas gas gas played in my head when playing this game
Great game man, love everything of it, hope you some day can implement the cutscenes
Great game, had fun, makes me want to do a racing game aswell !!
Cool game, driving felt fun and enjoyed doing spins off of jumping off the ramps, even if I got out of bounds and flipped a few times as a result! The music is a bop too!
The music took so long to find that fit the vibe while still being copyright free but it was worth it in the end. Glad you enjoy it!
I first had an issue with the game refusing to let me control the car, but that was on me because I played through the Itch app and it didn’t download the DLL which I had to manually place in the game folder Itch created.
The music is super nice and the game itself small but fun, but I found it a bit weird to be able to drive on the invisible walls and not being able to easily get back onto the street from there (being on the inside of a curve and very fast helps, though).
Was my first time working with 3D Physics so I just tried to make the walls as usable as possible without dealing with too much time there. So it's just the sides of the track lifted up. When I understand Godot physics better I do hope to make wallriding and smoother transitions!
Music was a bop, controls were light and fun (though gravity could've been turned down a little lol) and the background were smooth. I feel that a slightly more cyber environment would've suited the story more, but it's simple and effective nonetheless. Good work!
Cyber environment was definitely an intention to explain the robot arm but time limits of 4 days go brr lol. Thank you!
Gave me whiplash, literally. I don't have much to say because it was an incredibly fun and solid game, insert gif of "me omw to work"
I saw this game on the stream. The gameplay is a blast. Very well done. Driving on the walls was fun. I like racing games, especially with stunts!
Thank you! Your game was also great on stream, very well polished, and super ambitious to do that in 3D!
I really like the juxtaposition of the sad story and the fun colorful gameplay, makes for a good expierience. As others said, being able to have some control in the air would be nice, but I did enjoy flying into space by driving of ramps and walls! Driving was definitely very fun! Good work.
That's the part that took the most time, I'm glad it was executed in a way people enjoyed, and have further plans to make it even better! Thank you!
Awesome game!! I knew the moment I saw Shovel played it on stream I gotta go check this one out. The camera work is incredible, make me happy every time even when I blasted off the map lol. Phenomenal work! Shame there are so many bugs and workaround for the game but it in no way affect the overall thrill of driving around at full speed (and shove my face down the ocean). Well done!!
Also, it'd be great to add a little air control. I really like zooming in the air and a little steering would be cool since it means people wouldn't get penalize back to the start and forced to go slow.
Personally not a fan of air control because yeeting the car and letting physics take the wheel is more adrenaline inducing, but I can definitely try adding some small level of adjustment to make you feel more in control. There's definitely more features planned once I know more Godot to make this give the feeling of Mario Kart but with much higher speeds. Thank you for your feedback!
This game reminded me of the Burnout games. The Music is also great. I do think doing tricks was a bit hard to do without flying off the map so that might have to be fixed. I think your next steps if you decide to contiue is expand the story with cutscenes like you planed to do, do some tweaks with tricking, and add more missions and maps. You did great.
I did intend to make it super asphalt 8, mario kart, need for speed style where all you focus on is speed and stunts, this was just the best I could do with the little time and experience I had. Though I haven't actually played Burnout, I'll give those a try for more reference. Thank you!
the music waves looks awesome and the driving feeling is really good. I love driving through the invisible walls XD
The wall driving was completely unintended but I enjoyed it when I found out it could be done during testing. If I had time I would've made it so it was an actual mechanic where you could drive on buildings. The environment would need a lot of work to be able to do that, so I had to make the walls shorter so you didn't drive in the air, but it'll be back!
Nice game! I get that the story might have been a bit much to fit into the jam's deadline but even like this it got the idea across. did feellike maybe it lacked a bit of control during the jumps. that being said, good job!
Yeah lesson learnt, not to overscope for jams lol. I definitely plan to make it more control and feel better and more consistent in the future, the same way Mario Kart does. Thank you for the feedback!
Love it! Ignoring the fact that if you take a ramp you go to space, its really fun (so are the space jumps). Drifting down the screw though, that's where the real fun's at!
Unfortunate, you didn't get to the story, but it's a fun racing game either way!
I'm just waiting for the multiplayer, that would be a blast!
Glad you enjoyed! Multiplayer might come later, let's get the singleplayer done first lol. Might redo later with all the actual intended mechanics I planned (like Rhythm based stunts and boosts)
Congrats on your first jam! This is really fun for having such a sad story. I had a great time just driving around and being chaotic. I enjoyed making myself clip into the ocean in particular. The physics in general were quite entertaining. Also, the town is sprawling and has a really nice design, did you make the models yourself?
The models were obtained from Kenney Assets but I did have to go through the effort of organizing and placing those assets in the environment, and modelling the road entirely by scratch (and in such a way that it felt smooth to drive. This took HOURS in Blender, and 12 total versions because 3D physics is a PAIN). Thank you so much!!
Ah, Kenney is a treasure! Still, even if you didn't make the building blocks, you put them all together, and that's what I found most charming about the environment (the layout, always something interesting around every bend). 12 versions, wow. Physics are a huge pain but I really liked the physics you ended up with. Just the right amount of crazy.
