Cool game!
I think it would've been better if the firefighters's extinguish ability were radius instead of one single square. For example, after clicking a fire square to extinguish, it would also clear the fire around the square, like a square of 9 blocks radius ish.
There were moments that somehow, the firefighter would get stuck in this place.
But overall, it's a good game!
Cool entry, love the artwork and sound. Wasn't always sure if the hose was running or not, but I was able to put put out most of the fires anyway, hooray.
Very nice ideas, i encountered a few bugs but it's understandable for a jam game. Good job on the entry!
A fun RTS with satisfying sound design and nice art
The controls felt a bit finicky at times, firefighters would sometimes stand in front of a house I clicked on several times and watch it burn down or stop walking to where I told them to go
I would probably say: ramp up the difficulty a little bit more slowly at the beginning or maybe even include little control hints on first play, if you had the time
Working out management in this game was super fun! The controls were really intuitive and I enjoyed multitasking and making sure that my firefighters were as optimal as possible before I could get towers. The early chaos of having only one firefighter to fend off the entire town before you build your defense is also really fun. Great job!
Fun! It was super satisfying to put up towers and watch them put out fires for me. When microing the firemen, I immediately wanted control groups and shift-queuing lol. Cool idea and great submission, congrats!
Fun RTS. I will say the difficulty is up there right of the bat. The sound as each fire spawned was a great add to et the atmosphere. Had a lot of fun.
I like the sprites and had fun with the RTS mechanics!
At first I was confused why my firefighters spontaneously disappeared from existence until I read the other replies here haha. Fires were overwhelming at the beginning until I got enough to build towers.
Had some difficulty figuring out where to click on the houses to put them out and it seemed like no matter how many times I clicked on them, the firefighter would just refuse to put the fire out and just watch the fire burn down the houses.
Unfortuantely as some fires spawn beside the houses, is really hard for the player to know where to click in order to put them out. I usually click in the roads behind th ouses if any. Some fires cannot be put out which is another miss on our part cause the player should be able to erase all fires by just using firefighters. Lot of things to fix XD, but we 'll get there. Thank you very much for playing and for the feedback.
Took a while to figure out how to move the firefighters and they would just disappear at times lost 3 of them (did they burn?) A tutorial would have helped a lot (I know it is difficult to find that into a jam time frame, rarely do it myself)
Once I got used to the controls the game went pretty well and I really enjoyed the art and music.
The houses burning was a little strange as the firefighters did not want to put them out only the fire squares. Also would have been nice if the firefighter could have some automation... maybe a chief to direct them or something :)
Fun submission I was thinking about doing one about fire, although my was going to be you want the fire to consume... what does that say about me :P
I played some games in the jam that had a similar idea to yours, fire consuming instead of what we did, and they were all very clever concepts. Interesting idea about a chief, maybe you could unlock it with some more money and then the firefighters are automated, sounds pretty neat actually. Thank you very much for playing and for the feedback!
It's fun to see an RTS like game in the jam. I found the controls to be pretty intuitive, and the goal was clear. My firefighter did get stuck in some brown stuff though. Thankfully, he eventually got freed cause of a fire. Music and graphics were enjoyable and charming. Keep up the great work!
Haha, yeah firefighters are acting weird sometimes. I am glad it was clear what to do, I beleieve we need a more rewarding gameplay and endgoal in general, something we are thinking about. Thanks for playing!
This was a fun idea, it was a bit finicky getting the fire fighters to move around and put out fires but I eventually replaced them all with towers, sent them to unemployment.
At least that's what I like to think happened thematically cause the firefighters just started disappearing after awhile, I'm unsure if they died or something else happened. The last firefighter disappeared while I was moving him and I was stuck with the running sfx playing on constant loop in the background.
Overall a fun game with some nice art, good work.
Hey thanks for playing Let's call it unemployment yes. The idea was to erase the firefighters after a while as well as the towers so the player doesnt end up having mulitple of them sitting still and putting out fires. We hope to remove most of the bugs in the near future. We appreciate your feedback!
I like the the mechanics and also loving the controls. Only issue I had was it's kind of hard to know what's going on around because of the urgency to put out the fires. A little breather in between "waves" would be a nice addition
Yeah it takes some effort to understand what's going on and try to manage all that. Also adding waves is something that we didnt think but something that we should consider. Thanks for playing!
I think the core gameplay idea here is really cool and has lots of potential! I liked the graphics, especially the bounciness of the firefighters.
Sometimes I noticed that the tiles that set the house on fire would appear behind the house itself, making it much harder to figure out where to bring the firefighters. That could potentially be fixed by either preventing fire from spreading to those tiles or by making the houses themselves smaller.
Other than that, nice work!
We surely need a better way to demonstrate the fires, especially when tehy are behind the house. Glad you liked the concept. Thanks for playing!
quite ambitious for a game jam. it seems you guys got a lot done too. I think the gameplay needs more work to make it the most fun it can be. I loved the run animation of the fire fighthers :D
Thank you for playing. Maybe it was a lot to manage in such a sort period of time. Now that we dont have the time pressure, we 'll look into changing things a bit.
Cool Concept, putting out the growing fire can be challenging and stratigical task. Which actually suits for making it into a rts and towerdefend game. I think there can be constraints of where the firefighters can walk and where you can build the towers, so that the player have to plan their action more carefully and there is more interaction with the map. I liked it and I think it is a game with potential. Great job
We will definitely work on the firefighter's navigation and the tower placement. The feedback you guys are giving us is really helpfull!
Thank you very mush for playing!
This game is original, fits the theme really well, has good graphics and audio and is fun to play. Sometimes it felt like the firefighters were not putting out some of the fires but that might have just been me being clumsy. Well done!
We are glad you had a fun time playing the game! The firefighter have bugs on the colliders and behaviour indeed, so it wasn't just you. We' ll try adn fix the issues. Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback :)
I loved how you applied the theme of the jam to this game. I think it's really smart. The visuals were fantastic. I had a bit of a hard time putting out some fires since my firefighters seemed to get stuck at houses sometimes or I wasn't even sure if they were actually putting out some fires. I really liked the towers tho. Overall, great concept and good job!
Hey thank you very much for playing and for the feedback. Yes, the firefighters putting out fires is not translating very well for the player. Number one reason being the sound effects not playing every time, which is the main indicator since players may not watching all the firefighters on the screen. Glad you liked it as it is!
Really like the concept for this game. I think it could do with a bit more balancing though as the start is very hard, and the controls can be a bit funny aswell. Also like the music. Good job!
Thank you very much for playing. We appreciate your feedback!
Fantastic project! I love firefighting and I love tower defense so this was a great find. I really liked being able to slowly upgrade my fighting force, the towers felt great and the firefighters were fun. One thing that I wish I could do was maybe upgrade houses or place more for more income, but more prone to fires. Great job!
We are glad you enjoy it. We also like the concept very much and will try make it a more enjoyable eexperience. Interesting idea that one with the house upgrade, definetely gonn think about it. Thank you for playing!
Great game! It would be nice to have a firefighter at the start of the level. Also, they're a bit dim – one of them got stuck in the top-right corner
Good idea to introduce the player in the basic mechanic. The firefighters have somthing of their own will which we dinn't have the chance to alter :), but we'll work on it. Thank you for playing and the for the feedback!
