Yes - I'm new to game jams!

How does your game fit the theme?
You get started as a virus to infect a human body, and evolve over time, starting as a weak virus.

Interesting idea! I have a similar game — I'd be grateful if you could check it out! Here are a few issues I noticed:

  1. The syringe boss sprite looks blurry — maybe you forgot to set the texture filter to "Nearest"?

  2. On level 2, the game just froze with a message saying "2 enemies left".

  3. The camera doesn’t have boundaries at the edges of the map.

  4. As others have said, a web export is missing.

  5. The enemy-player collision hitbox feels too big.

Thank you for the feedback! :)

I will try your game too!

Virus Survivors :) Managed to finish the game with 1 hp haha. Would prefer a way to heal my character, because it got quite tough when I made a mistake early on. The upgrades can certainly be more varied and more balanced too, as well as having a better wave system to justify having the random projectile upgrade (otherwise it will almost always hit nothing), compared to other more juicier +1 projectile upgrade.

As a first time game jam, that's a pretty good concept.

Also a little advice - next time try to upload a web build so people can try your game without having to download it, it's better to prevent virus (heh) and such, and windows gave me a warning trying to launch your game so it might have discouraged some people to try the game.

Thank you for the feedback, all on point!
We thought about the healing upgrade, just a bit late to add it, we agree it would have been a good way for the player to heal at the cost of an upgrade!
We also had issues with errors with the web build and we ended up having the .exe only despite the issues you mentioned :/
We'll try to figure out how to do a correct web build in the future to prevent that too.

I guess we wanted to have something stable, but it lacks a bit on the content/balance side haha

I'll take the time to test your game too!
