Yes - I'm new to game jams!
How does your game fit the theme?
The whole game is about starting tasks, yet not really finishing them

I actually like this, it's simple but the gameplay is there, polish it up a bit and maybe add a way to play in browser and you are golden
Also if you can go and play my game, I would love some feedback
Appreciate the feedback! I'll check out your game after work 馃挴
Really like the simplicity of your game, first rage game I ever played! Only feedback I'd say is the controls were kind of unintuitive for me even when the description said key, took me awhile to figure it was the arrow keys, but overall like the concept. Havent finished it yet tho
The game is great, for a newbie you did a great job. I feel the game is really simple, could be done to play in the browser, also maybe adding more objects would be nice to the game. I am pretty sure your next game will be way better than this one, really good job, it will only get easier from here!
Thanks so much for the compliments, tbh I had way more minigame ideas and fleshing out the existing ones but game jams are game jams. Looking forward to making more variety games!
I don't know what I'm supposed to do. When I interact with the bookshelf right at the beginning I get softlocked, no matter what key I press or where I click.
Hey, thanks for the bug report, need more info though, did you get into the typing game?
Ah, it's a bug. Now I feel less stupid for not figuring ot out :)
I'd love to help but unfortunately there isn't much to report. I started the game, pressed E on the bookshelf and got stuck there, no matter what key I pressed or where I clicked. I could click the textbox above, but for every 10 - 20 keys I pressed, only one got entered.
Judging from the other comments it only seems to happen to me so I'll refrain from voting.
yeah the typing game really is janky and rushed, if you still wanna give it a try here's some tips:
- The green color and the textbox sometimes don't match up, always pay attention to the textbox
- Relating to the first tip, sometimes it inputs an incorrect character, when it's not supposed to, so just make sure the input you got in the textbox matches the target words in the book
- Sometimes if no key works, it's probably a space
Hopefully this works for you
Aaaaaah, I take back the comment about me not being stupid. I didn't realize it was a typing game! Yeah, now the game works, lol. I'm so used to janky games in this game jam that I didn't ever consider that everything was running as intended. In this case the bug is that the game allows me to mash keys and brute-force my input.
Well that was a fun little game. I really liked the atmosphere.
Thanks :) Happy I could make something short and sweet especially with my current schedule. Also yeah I noticed the typing game bug, but didn't have the time to fix it 馃槄
Happens to me as well. Exactly like you described
Really cute and stylish pixel graphics and sounds. I got real nostalgic vibes from this.
I think if you could next time try make a play in browser web version of your game it would get LOADS more plays, ratings and feedback.
Congrats on your first game jam game, it's really cool :)
Thanks for the compliments, I'll tell my artist you like their work :) Also, game lagged way too much on my browser so I thought it'd be safer to make an exe but I'll keep that in mind next time
Remember you can include a download version AND browser of your game.
The trick is to make sure when you upload to itch that the two folders DO NOT have the same name or they will be overwritten.
What I like to do myself is have web version for those who are worried about downloading files from the internet and also a download version for those who wanna play with better optimization and such :)
Ahhh, that makes sense, noted for next time Thanks :)
