I'm working with a friend but we don't really have a team name, but the game has our names in the credits...

Yes - I'm new to game jams!
How does your game fit the theme?
The main idea consists of starting over after each game over carrying buffs to a new run, eventually building on those buffs for stronger versions. It's pretty much inspired on umamusume's legacy system.
As such, you're always just getting started on the game.
We also only managed to make the very beggining of the game, so I guess you could say the game is just getting started too...

Fun game, gives off The Binding of Isaac vibes, in a good way! I was positively surprised to see four different playable characters, and the rougelite mechanic of being empovered by previous deaths. I do believe that the bombadier character is a tad to slow to avoid final boss's projectiles, but you can kill him in that time when on full health so it's not a major issue.
Super fun game! The pixel art is amazing and the fighting mechanics are really well put toghether, would have loved some music though. I had a lot of fun. Great job!
Very nice game for a first jam ! Since how long did you use game maker because the game is very well made !
The characters are pretty well balanced and the mechanic of gaining a bonus stat depending on one of our run with a character is a nice addition !
The best build so far is Simball with the will of the pirate as it one shots the little ennemies and has quite some range.
Thanks! This is my first jam and my first ever published game, but I've been working on a VS/Holocure clone for half a year now, so I got some experience with the basic mechanics of a top down game. Also had the help of a friend who's never used game maker before so it was a learning experience lol
Very cool! Felt like a child of Country Balls and Binding of Isaac. I enjoyed it. Even though I could manage to kill the snake only with a very speedy ball, otherwise dodging is very hard with slow character
Glad you liked it! Guess it still needs some balancing lol. And yeah, Country balls was the inspiration for the art style. A cross between those two was what I was aiming for.
