Yes - I'm new to game jams!

How does your game fit the theme?
Starting something new is kinda like jumping off a cliff. You're taking a risk. And when you do something new you learn more, and you can see more, like getting to see new colors.

A nice mashup of the infinite runner and a puzzle/platformer. Excellent job for a first game. I might add some sort of indication that I am getting close to the ground, maybe not a gauge but shift the background colors or something that gives me a sense of progression.

Developer (1 edit)

a small correction: not my first game, just my first time doing a game jam! And about the background shifting comment, thats actually in the game, its just pretty subtle so im not surprised you didnt notice. thnx for playing 馃憤

I love the interpretation of the theme. Just taking a leap of faith and hoping for the best!

I dont think i ever played a game in which i just had to fall. It turned out to not bad as easy as expected. Specially after the green cloud started appearing. I didnt realize at first i could press space, but if i did I had another problem. It took some getting used to but it was really fun! Also poor birds! Getting hit by a rocket person. Also the birds look super nice, well done!

Very nice game. It felt very smooth and polished. I was only a bit sad then the music stopped at some point and didnt loop. Also I was a bit unsure if i hit the end when i landed on the floor.

It was great fun! Great work!

oh, it seems theres a bug where if you jump   when you hit the ground, the ending animation doesnt play.

Thank you! Glad you liked my music :D

It took a minute to know if I was suppose to fall or bounce somewhere, but I got there in the end. The concept is pretty beautiful, getting colors on your way to the ground, dodging the obstacles, your colors and experience making it easier as you get farther a long. I felt so bad for bouncing on the birdies though! The falling animation and sprites were really cute and fluid, the birds were beautiful as well. Great job, and congrats on your first game jam!

Developer

ty! kehehe glad the birdie bounce had the intended effect

I had fun and like the presentation of the submission.

Well done finishing the first game jam - hurray.

Not sure I understood everything, f the goal is to dodge the clouds, I find it very difficult to react in time and change direction before hitting them. Also, when I reached the bottom, I couldn鈥檛 move anymore, only jump. But I think the game looks beautiful and has a great atmosphere!

yeah, its hard to find a balance between too  fast and too boring.

oh no, you must have run into a bug   that stopped the ending animation  馃様 i didnt have time to test to make sure i'd completely eliminated that one . if you were holding down the fastfall button or another key    when you hit the ground, that might have caused it, idk.   were you playing the downloadable or the web version?   And thank you!  happy to know my efforts to create a nice atmosphere were a success :D

Yeah i was holding down and played the web version 馃槄

Very cool idea! Liked it a lot. After the green part introduction it got pretty hard even comparing to the yellow part, but overall very fun little game!

Didn't initially understand. was a couple of frustrating parts where I got stuck for a bit (good job!). having made all the assets yourself on your own is wild! hope to see more from you!

ty! funnily enough, as soon as the jam ended, i went back to work on a project i impulsively started some time before the jam. it's a lot different from this one,   I'm gonna be  uploading a prototype soon 馃憤 im also considering making a different version of this game, which will probably be funner and have a clearer goal lol

The goal was kind of unclear but once I understood it was pretty fun
