Interesting concept, super appealing character, animations & sounds. As said before some of the controls feel a bit too fast, but apart from that it's a really solid offering, great job!
Incredible concept, incredible execution. I agree with some of the other comments about the slippery movement and camera troubles, but this still controls really well for a jam game. This was a ton of fun!
Also, I found this secret little area in the level with 3 rockets over lava! I'm not sure if this was an intentional area or not, but it was super fun to get here, since it made me have to get to the final platform while conserving an extra rocket cartridge. If you develop a full version, I would love to see more spots like this!
thanks ! I'm so glad you got to find the secret little area, it was supposed to be a nice secret but i completely ran out of time last day, the post jam version will definitely fix that with a lot of other improvements.
Awesome, I'll be sure to check out the update when it releases!
I really like the cartridge idea. I think you could expand on that a lot. Like the low poly style as well. My only suggestion is to either add a run mechanic so you can walk or run or make the movement speed a little slower. I found it a little hard to control in some areas.
Nice puzzle platformer. Looking really good. Very cute robot. Also like the sound design.
I had some difficulties with the camera control. Especially in the first level, where the bot needs to go in the corner and the camera automatically zooms out and mover to the right. This forces the player to have to change their direction control based on a camera angel that you do not control at that moment. I found this very tricky. It got a bit better in subsequent levels.
Anyway, very impressive and fun game!
A nice puzzle platformer, really cute! and improvement I'd like to see is some dot in the center of the screen, to see where I'm aiming, especially on the rocket part. A great game!
Thank you for joining my stream! Here's a written review for you:
First, I will say that the robot is so damn cute, love the music, and sound effects are on point. The only thing I don't really like is how slippery he is.
Overall, the puzzles are super creative. I had a lot fun, definitely one of the best games I've played. Very good job!
Here's the clip of me playing your game: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2521174316
Thanks that's really nice, glad you enjoyed it !
Another incredibly cool platformer! I really liked this one, the puzzles were nice and intuitive, and the game feels pretty polished all around. The only thing that could use more work were the environments themselves, but I understand more than anyone level design is hard and the focus is always to make it playable and then maybe make it look good later. I really like the last gauntlet level, but I cannot tell if you're meant to approach it from several directions? Could just be a pure min-max / time save thing. The game also does a great job of introducing mechanics whenever it starts to feel like you've already mastered some, and focusing on them alongside stacking them.
Not sure what the median time is, but I beat it in 12 minutes, which sounds like a lot less time than I thought it was considering I got stumped on one of the earlier puzzles.
Thanks ! this is really nice, im glad you mention the environments cause i wish i had more time to flesh them out, im glad you think the puzzles were intuitive that was really my hope.
Such a creative and novel idea, and you used it in such a good way. I loved how intuitively every mechanic was introduced. I was never in doubt what I could do, even though no text was presented. So good! Without a doubt in my mind this game has the bones to become a full release. The added mechanic that some of the moves could be timed proves that there is more to explore than just "pick up a power and use it". But that in itself is enough for a full game I feel. And very good idea to focus them around movement, and not other stuff like combat. I do have some criticisms, but it is only because I think the game has so much potential.
First, the controls were a little too sharp. I think you could fit more intricate puzzles in if the movement was slower and the controls easier. Some of the puzzles were you had to pick up and use powers while in the air was very tricky.
Second, I would have liked the game to be less punishing. Dying and going back to start became frequent and a little tedious. Maybe when stepping in lava, you could lose some health and jump back on the platform as in old games like Ratchet and Clank.
Lastly, it felt like the game couldn't quite decide what it wanted to be, but then settled into a puzzle platformer. I didn't care much for the boss fight in the early levels, and I think if you make a larger game, you should focus 100% on being a puzzle platformer.
Anyways, that's my thoughts. This is the longest comment I've left this jam, and it's because I feel like this game has huge potential. In any case, keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for this ! so much good insight here. i really like your first point cause i think the focus at those times shouldn't be how hard is to not slip off platforms but rather the puzzles themselves. i think having a forgiving respawn system would be good too cause those platforming sections are supposed to be more fun than like these perfect input or restart gauntlets. i definitely agree that the game is mostly a puzzle platformer but i think boss fights / enemy sections could actually break up the pace in interesting ways if they come later / are more foreshadowed / are better designed as puzzles. like i think the current sawblade roomba wasnt executed on well enough (camera doesnt track it so it becomes a camera challenge, button isn't obvious / has a small trigger, Roomba is too fast with too big a hitbox)
Nice 3d controlls and art, and really liked the mechanic, having the commands be disks that the robot picks up is genius.
Note: The hover animation is adorable
Pretty charming! Aside from some things you could add like BGM, effects or costumes for the bot (cuz everyone loves that) it's pretty fun, keep going :D
Really loved the game and since you asked for honest feedback on discord i will, the gameplay feels really smooth and the camera zoom out in some zones is on point also the enemies difficulty is not that hard but not that easy the level design in most of the game is really easy to understand and to navigate the art is the thing that needs the most improvement not the character or the enemies im talking about the textures and coins and probably ui, the sounds are really good too calm and peaceful really great game also i would love to see some dust particles when jumping landing flapping and moving and also loved the enemy it literally is the same one from mario galaxy which is my fav game of all time, overall great game and also if you polish the game and add the things you mentioned on discord and perhaps some boss fights and more enemies you can range this game easily from 3-5 dollars at least, it is a fair price for a great game really well done.
also if you dont mind giving my game a shot i would appreciate that.
Thanks for this! you brought up some great feedback, getting back in to improve the visual textures and particle effects really excites me. glad you enjoyed the boss because i know i could make him a lot more interesting with more time.
