good first entry! very challenging to eat the flies and pick up the nest components because of their pattern and the tight hitbox (maybe bigger hitbox and more predictable flies?). enjoyed how the elements from the first level got reused on the last level. nice touch with the presentation through rhyming the message.
keep on making games!
Thank You very much <3
I realized once I saw someone play the game that the flies might be too fast depending on your monitor's refresh rate, which I'll have to fix up :p
I do like their unpredictability, makes them feel like flies, but I would definitely work on the hitboxes and speed, for sure, hope that'd make it enough to have them be fair.
Much appreciated, thank you for playing <3
I'd be incredibly down for a game where you live out the day in the life of a bird. I'd keep going with it
Hi, thank you for the idea :D can't promise I'll get to do it (need to learn more before I could expand a game scope), but it sounds interesting for sure :)
I like the concept, but it was really hard to make much progress
The flies move so much faster than you and spawn so suddenly, and the hitbox is very small, anytime I caught one felt more like I just got lucky
If the levels aren't directly building on each other, it might be nice to have them all be selectable from the start, I'm bummed I couldn't see the rest of the game
Thank you for the nice words, it seems I overturned the flies' speed a bit. Got used to it in development, to a point I didn't notice that they could be hard to catch.
the levels do technically build upon eachother, which was the reason for locking them. it's a circle of life, where you go through stages of life as the chicken. perhaps the jam version could've had them unlocked from the start though, fair point
Hi, just as a followup, for something that might help you if you'd like to try to get to the other levels, and haven't tried this yet; you can just sit on branches to hunt for the flies. they have a learnable pattern, should make it more manageable to take it easy :p
the flies were moving a bit too fast, maybe you could decrease their speed just in the first chapter so the difficulty increases a little
Fair point, seems I got used to their difficulty over making the game, didn't notice it might be too hard :p
thanks for the feedback
Good movement, could use a bigger hit box and slower flies, at least initially.
Fair point, balancing has been hard for me for sure :p thanks for the feedback :D
Took me a second to figure out level 3. Wasn't very clear. Level 2 was my favorite.
Ah, fair enough, thank you for the feedback. Honestly level 2 felt the most balanced to me as well :D
Your game is very good! I liked the art and the difficulty wasn't even so hard! Great job! In your next game, you could try make some music!
Nice, glad you liked it <3 Music is a bit of a tough subject for me to approach, but I'll definitely try to improve that "on my own time" (as in, not limited by jam deadline :p)
Great job on finishing your first game jam entry!
Sadly i haven't made it past first chapter, feeling the balance a bit off between energy consumption to mass gain - but maybe im just to slow for those matrix flies.
Missing some ambience or sfx!
Like to see you continue your journey
Thank You! Glad to see you've tried all the same. Perhaps I was too used to the mechanics by the time I posted, and that resulted in mismatched difficulty.
I definitely need to learn a bit about music, fr
Thank you for your feedback <3
