Hey! Thanks so much — and big congrats on taking One Way Out to Steam, that’s a huge step! 🎉
I’d be happy to help refine the game — I really enjoyed the concept and would love to see it shine even brighter. I’ll drop my feedback in the comments section soon with suggestions on what could be tweaked or added.
Wishing you the best with the release — let’s make these jam games go full pro! 🚀🔥
Very impressive visually. It was hard to see most of the time though, even with the lantern, I could barely make out the corners of the walls. Flashlight was alright though. The atmosphere is great! Though I was a bit confused by the jump scares, besides the first one, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to see something or it was just sounds. You also might want to do proof reading of the text, I had a hard time understanding the last letter and if the axe was cursed or if it was a way to get rid of the curse.
Either way, was fun and a good job!
Thank you so much — really glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and visuals! 🙏
And yeah… let’s just say lighting balance is a work in progress 😅 Turns out making spooky rooms just dark enough without turning them into black voids is trickier than it looks. I’ll definitely tweak the lantern’s brightness and contrast it better with the flashlight in future builds.
As for the jump scares — I think Some of them you werent able to see this cause of dark!
Totally agree on the last letter too — the axe/lore stuff could definitely use a proofreading pass and more clarity. Appreciate you pointing that out!
Thanks again for playing — and for the thoughtful feedback. Super helpful and encouraging! 👻🪓
Woah what a ride. I think I definitely played like a speed runner XD cz I feel like I missed some things. However, the atmosphere, the horror elements, graphics (I thought it was an Unreal Game from the screenshots since it was that good) and the pacing were spot on. The only bug I noticed was floor texture at the room with the bed and two cabinets (the point where u enter the room through the corridor) and some drops in performance like fps (I run a 9070xt so my pc can handle stuff). Aside from that, everything was perfect. I felt like I was playing a horror game made by AA or I dare say AAA company.
Woah, thanks a ton! You calling it AA or even AAA level honestly blew my mind — I’m over here cheesin’ like I just got hired by Capcom 😂
And hey, speedrunner strats are totally valid! 😄 You might’ve zoomed past a few details, but I’m just glad the atmosphere and pacing still landed well for you. Also, big thanks for pointing out that floor texture bug and the performance dips — especially since you're running a beast of a rig (9070XT? Sheeeesh 🚀). I’ll definitely dive into those issues in the post-jam version.
Really appreciate the support and the detailed feedback — it means a lot coming from someone who clearly knows their horror!
Very impressive! It feels like those horror P.T. games, where you just walk into the rooms and see all the paranormal things going on. Looking forward for this!
The only thing that I recommend is to not hide objects too much.
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you got that P.T. vibe — that's exactly the kind of unsettling atmosphere I was aiming for 👀👻
And yep, totally agree about the hidden objects. I might’ve gotten a little too excited with the whole “mystery = spooky” formula and forgot that players aren’t psychic 😅 I’ll definitely make things a bit more visible and intuitive in the next update!
Appreciate the kind words — and stay tuned, things are only going to get weirder from here 😈
I'm no fan of this kind of horror game, actually, but I think this is professional made like the others in the comment said. Maybe I accidentally found the secret path so I reached to the end without doing much tasks beside took a drawer key and some batteries.
Not sure if you want this, but you can add a "dim light" around the player character when they are in the dark and no light at all, like what Amnesia: The Dark Descent did, so that the player do not get lost at all even in the dark, and the player still feel tense when navigating the house.
Anyway, good luck with your game dev journey!
Thanks so much for checking it out — especially since horror’s not usually your thing! That means a lot 🙏
And yeah... you might’ve stumbled into the "any% taskless speedrun route" 😅 That’s on me — definitely gotta lock down the progression better so people don’t beat the game by just politely stealing a key and some batteries 😂
I love your suggestion about the dim light — that’s actually a brilliant middle ground between total darkness and full visibility. Amnesia really nailed that balance, and it’s a great reference. I’ll definitely look into implementing something similar post-jam.
Appreciate the kind words and the smart feedback — and thanks for the good wishes too! Wishing you the best on your own journey as well 🚀
I really like the look of this! People have already said it, but it feels and looks very professional. My only real complaint is how dark the game is at the very start.
Thank you so much! I'm really glad the look and feel landed well — hearing people call it “professional” honestly means the world, especially for a jam game! 😄
You're totally right about the darkness at the start — it’s a little too good at setting the mood 😅 I’ll adjust the lighting in the opening area so players don’t feel like they’re fumbling through a black hole. Thanks again for the feedback!
The game looked surprisingly good for a game jam project. Unfortunately, I noticed that after the beginning, the graphics took a bit of a hit and weren’t as consistent all the way through. I also managed to complete the game without having to do any of the tasks. On my screen, the canvas was slightly too large during the ending story texts, but that’s not a big deal. The texts were also visible for too short a time, so I couldn’t read everything. Still, the idea is solid, and with some careful polishing, this could become a really good game product!
Hey! Thanks a lot for the feedback – I really appreciate you taking the time to play it and write such detailed thoughts! 🙏
You're totally right about the graphics inconsistency — I had to rush a lot of the mid-to-late content due to the tight jam deadline (ah, the eternal enemy: time ⏳). As for skipping the tasks... oops 😅 I guess you found the secret speedrun route! Definitely something I need to fix.
The canvas size and the short story text durations are great catches too — noted for the next update. Glad to hear you liked the core idea though! With some proper polish (and maybe sleep 😅), I hope to turn it into something much better.
Thanks again for playing — your feedback genuinely helps a loف!
Just wanted to say one thing: It looks like a professional game made by a professional crew from the graphics and sound and atmosphere and UI. Do I need to say more? It's very impressive even if the 3d models were created before the Jam.
However, I got stuck in the first section where I need to find the key to progress. I tried looking everywhere but I couldn't find it. Maybe it's just a skill issue but do you mind helping me on that regard so I can progress?
Also I would prefer if the lantern was placed near the entrance. As soon as the lights turned off, I was wandering in the dark for 5 minutes before I spotted some petrol oil bottles and then the lantern. Maybe I'm new to horror games, but it seems unfair to try and find a light source in pitch black darkness.
Either way, with some tweaks and polish, it could be a great horror game. I'm going to keep playing to try and find the key.
Hey! Thank you so much — that opening line absolutely made my day! 😄 I'm genuinely honored that it gave off "professional crew" vibes, even though it was mostly just me, a bunch of coffee, and a very confused Laptop screen watching me dev work at 3AM 🐱☕
About the key: you're definitely not the only one who got stuck there, so it’s not a skill issue — it’s totally on me for hiding it too well. It’s placed on the room that the door of it is open and after that you must jump on the barrels and go through the tunnel, there you can also find the key and also put electricity back on, but I’ll definitely make it more intuitive in the post-jam version.
As for the lantern — that’s great feedback. You're right, stumbling in total darkness for five minutes isn’t exactly peak fun (unless you're a flashlight masochist 😅). I’ll tweak the placement so it's easier to spot early on. Horror is great, but not when it borders on "Where's Waldo in Hell" 😬
Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback — and good luck with the key! Let me know if you get through it
Congrats on the amazing project! The visuals are stunning and really stand out.
