How does your game fit the theme?
Our game is about getting your car started (what a way to take the prompt right) and a subtle nod at procrastination in game development :)

I really like the idea, the metaness of the dialogue added a lot to the simplistic gameplay. I enjoyed the little banter between the bad guy and the dev (from what i was able to gather, if not that then the dialogue was just fun to read). I got wayyyy too invested trying to start the car but I would love a little more movement options and/or a map because I got lost a few times (also the map would have lines of pixels tear through? or atleast you could see where each tile was separated but that's a little bit of a nitpick).
On a lighter note why the f**k is there an option to hide you scared me half to death thinking it was gonna turn into a horror game XD
Overall, really cool game :D
ah the hide mechanic works, thank goodness, yes it was meant to be a horror game, if you ever saw the bad guy hehe
yeh the dialogue was meant to be between the player and the bad guy and i have no idea why the tiles tore, someone else mentioned that too
glad to hear you enjoyed it tho :)
Really liked the vibe of this one! The way the dialogue carries the whole "unfinished" feeling is super clever, and it made the experience feel intentional instead of incomplete. Hope you get to expand on it sometime, there's a lot of potential here :)
thanks! as much as it was intentional, also very last minute because we did actually want to finish it :/
For some reason the item drop input didn't work at times, but aside from that good game! Liked the vibe and would be interesting to see what you were planning to do with it :>
yeh i worked on it for ages and sometimes it still didn't work ;(
glad to see you enjoyed the rest of it :)
Nice game! There are a few visual glitches, and I'm not sure if it's a bug or something, but there's no audio at all. It would also be better if you assigned an input for the dialogue instead of doing it automatically. But overall, it's a pretty good game!
thanks! yeah unfortunately we couldn't add any audio :/
we'll most probably add all of this if we carry on development of this :)
This is a nice game , with the ambience and the vibes it gives. There is one big problem though and im suprised not much people are talking about it . The whole map is tearing when im moving around , seeing the white lines between the sprites. To fix this you simply need to make a Sprite Atlas and put your tiles into this Atlas to fix the tearing issue
ah, i didn't notice that issue, maybe it's a rare problem that other people didn't have :/
thanks tho :)
huuuge potential here. the whole ambiance of the game works well. I distrusted the game text and kept going back and forth collecting items for a while. I hope you get the time to work on this again and finish cause I really wanna see where this is going. XD
Some audio or visual feedback on when a task is successful would be good. I think I see what you are trying to do, but if you are going to lean into the meta you should have some text speed controls. A good first game. Congrats.
I love what i see.
I had some hiccups in my playthrough, but I think I get what you aimed for.
Very nice narrative by that "bad guy".
Was dropping items not working or did the bad guy narrator purposefully lied to me, that the input key 'R' was for dropping items.
I really enjoy the art style and would love to have some ambience, when no music at least some stereotypical sfx of a forest in the night. an owl, wind whistling, a cricket.
You got great potential and that with your first submission - Great Job really. I hope to see some polish after the jam.
yeh "bad guy" was actually what we named him lol
also sometimes the reordering of the items from obtaining the flashlight was bugging out
we did actually have some music and sfx for the project but i never got around to actually implementing them in unfortunately :
i could not finish it tbh but man this game is great the ambient and the tree shadow and the lights everything looks so good idk if its a browser issue but i could not hear any sfx or background music, but overall your game is great.
we didn't get round to adding audio unfortunately :/
Despite not finishing it, I had fun playing around and reading in the story dialogue, it honestly gave life to the unfinished game. I'm not good with games that has some creepy or horror vibes so I sort of freaked out a bit when I discovered that I can hide in the bush during the night. Forgot that the bad guy AI wasn't working as the dialogue said LMAO
Still! Great game and looking forward to what you guys can do in the future when you have the time!
thanks , much appreciated :)
Lol, you actually made an unfinished game work narratively because of the dialogues, that is very creative! Art is cool too! Now I want too see the whole game based on those dialogues, that was very fun!
thanks :)
Honestly was pretty fun! It's cool that you managed to add a narrative twist that still makes the game feel complete despite the things that are missing. Good job!
thanks! it was very much of a last minute thing, we did want a fleshed out game but couldn't get the bad guy ai working in the end :/
Nice concept, still wish i could finish the game tho i feel bad for the little guy now forever trapped in the forest
yeh i feel bad for not finishing him D;
ouuuh I liked the angle! The humour too!
thanks :)
The dialogue was quite funny and fitting
Also personally I am a big fan of fixing red cars in the woods
omg no way, same idea and same name???
Great design! and funny dialogues, scared of breaking my car in the middle of the woods now.
definitely very interesting concept, the dialogues were quite cool. I did miss sounds though, but I do get that that's sort of the point. anyway good job, also I like the artstyle
we did have sound, just never got round to adding it (we made a soundtrack as well)
well i guess the devs really didn't finish the game (the devs being literally just me)
The dialogue is so funny! I love how the dialogue makes the game fit the theme, so I rated the creativity of 5 stars xD - "the game is not done - maybe the devs have not started yet" is so funny.
Would you like to rate our game too?
your game is sickk, love the artstyle and feel of the game, i didn't even play that much and i enjoyed it
Great Idea! But is kind of hard to find the necessary items, but really impressive work for such a short time, the dialogue was just amazing)))
Enjoyed playing your game!
