How is your game related to the Theme and Special Object?
There's a simple auto machine that spits out eggs and you need to collect eggs to escape

This was eerie and fun! it reminds me of liminal spaces stuff - all the creepy things. like, why is there this weird brown stained corner with a bunch of chairs or a computer of whatever?! and the odd, almost haphazard design layout, the desire to be able to sprint, but you can't.... if this had been a horror or existential crisis jam, this would rule! i loved the art and music, they fit too. overall very fun experience.
if you do ever turn this into something creeper, maybe add something that like, stalks you or some effect that kills you if you take too long?
The puzzles are generic but they work, but I can't find any automation and it lacks animations, but it's fine anyway.
Unique game in the jam, doing a scape room thingy. With more polish it can be a really cool concept!
Decent entry. I see what you were trying to do, but sadly I feel like it needs a lot more polish. Proper Y-sorting and character animations are just a few of my nitpicks.
More specifically, in Unity (this is version 2022.3.28f1) - in the sprite renderer, change sorting to pivot. in the sprite importer (click on the .png itself in the project folder) - change the pivot, either using this drop down, or in the sprite editor. For the style you chose, using the bottom of your player would work well. although, in this case, you could also put things like the front door in a higher sorting layer, so it always shows on top of the player, and simply not allow the player behind certain items, like the auto-egg-maker.

Overall great little experience and very unique genre choice. There was a good variety of eggs and I liked the puzzles, especially the colored number one. Not sure where the automation comes in but I do like the music playing in the background and I did manage to escape.
I enjoyed the memory flip and getting the eggs to pull the level. Since the world is so big - it would be cool to increase your player speed for each egg collected :)
Also I got to 11 eggs thanks to 3 from the automatic egg machine but the door wouldn't open :(
Overall awesome job - you put a lot of work into this and it shows!
Thank you for playing! Yeah, I need to make the level smaller next time or increase the speed. Thank you for the feedback. I kind of go overboard making the world too large, so next time I’m definitely making it smaller.
There was 10 unique eggs! The following names: White Egg Sparky The Block Stripe Eyeball Foxy Goldy Pablo Chocolate Egg Mysterious Mouth Egg
If you press I for inventory and click on the auto egg, there was a sneaky description saying you can’t use it to escape. I’m sorry you couldn’t escape :( I should have made it clearer maybe naming it ‘Fake Egg’
Thanks for playing! and good luck on your game jam, will play yours as soon as I can.
This game is alright. Certainly has alot of points to improve on.
Firstly, I'd like to say that I appreciate the small extra touch of actually adding descriptions and eggs with a personality to them, instead of just differently coloured eggs. The idea of collecting ten items through various other small puzzles to complete a grand puzzle in order to progress is decent, and can be fun.
I enjoyed the puzzle with the colours, as well as the computer one, as they are by far the most unique out of the bunch.
This game has alot of running around, which isn't the best. Having more difficult puzzles in a smaller area, instead of a collect-a-thon, would've been much nicer.
I spent a while looking for the last two eggs, the chest one and the dirt one, believing they were in some hidden spot I hadn't searched in yet, but they turned out to just appear out of nowhere? Unless I'm missing something here, they seemingly just appeared out of thin air.
The music could've been alot better, as it got tiring over time, especially with the amount of time it took me to find everything.
Sprite work is okay, could've benefited from animations though. Although I do really love the thumbnail, it's well designed and very unique.
Overall, a very good base, and not the worst thing I've ever played, as I even sat through and completed it!
Great work, and good luck with your future projects!
Yeah, I definitely agree with you. This game was kind of all over the place.
Thanks! I tried to be creative with the names and descriptions as a last-minute result.
The code and memory puzzle were meant to be the most stand out ones. I wanted to add more, but just that alone took a lot out of me. So, thank you for saying that I appreciate it a lot.
I definitely need to scale back the map or increase speed somehow. I probably should have had the auto eggs give you speed or something but oh well. I have a problem with going overboard with the level design. I tried to make it smaller this time and it seems like I failed yet again, oof.
The chest was inside the maze! You press E to open it an egg pops out, and the dirt one called ‘The Block’ you had to go press a lever to open a gate up. If you didn’t see the gate beforehand, went to pull the lever then yeah you would never know. They were both inside the maze.
Music was last decision stuff, sorry it’s annoying.
Thank you for the feedback anyways! I know there are areas where this could of been so much better. Partly the level design. Wish you luck on your game jam! and thanks for escaping!
