Really loved some of the chord changes in this, reminded me at parts of Thomas Newman’s work like for example Road to Perdition which I adore. I felt the weaving a thread but for didn’t really feel very ‘spacey’ like in the picture, although my partner said it gave her Doctor Who vibes so that works!
The piano rolls feel like flowing water and together with the ticking metronome-like sound, this is a very clever way of depicting the flow of time the way that the threads are shown in the image you chose. I think your chord progression, particularly in the A section and the repeat with the strings, is particularly beautiful given the classical yet unpredictable nature. The melody makes so much sense but also goes where it wants, another great way to portray someone weaving time. The second half uses a stepwise progression which is somewhat more predictable, still with intrigue, making me imagine that the initial weaves are turning into a full cloak of time and it is a little easier to see the formation of the final product. Harmonically, the stacked perfect fifths in the ostinato and the use of the dorian mode give the sense of the mythic nature of the artwork, adding a feeling of wonder that helps accompany the colossal stellar being sitting among the galaxies in space weaving time. What a beautiful image and an equally beautiful piece of music to match. Excellent work and thank you for sharing.
Oh wow, thank you so much for the kind words! And you have quite an ear for picking up all of that! Your words humble me greatly haha. I just hope to keep making music like this!
absolutely gorgeous, the constant ticking slowly panning added a fantastic sense of motion along with the harp(?)
Thank you! I originally hadn't panned the ticking, but I thought it may add a sense of the hands on a clock moving around. I tried to capture a 'spinning thread' idea into the left hand piano line as well, but that's a much more subtle way of bringing out the 'spinning' idea. And yes! It is a harp.
Such a captivating track. Love everything about it!
Thank you! It was my first time utilizing SFX into an orchestral track, so I'm excited to experiment with some more!
What a beautiful piece. It was really soothing to listen to
Thank you! I'm glad it was soothing!
