I love the way your incorporated the rain and the synths. It almost blurs the lines between sound effects and music where it becomes a sort of noise generator on the synth that opens and closes with the filter. This is a really cool idea I'm gonna have to play around with myself. Really love how the piece develops overall! Amazing work.

Thank you! It was really enjoyable creating an ambience, setting a scene, and incorporating music within it. Glad that it gave you some production ideas to explore, and thanks for hosting the jam, the theme got some great results!

The rainy street ambience with futuristic Blade Runner-esque synth pads really sets the dark neon vibe of the picture for me. Your use of EQ, compression, and other effects to evoke a sense of space in the world of the image is particularly impressive to me. To be able to accurately portray music in different spaces within the world is something I really admire about this piece. It allows me to see the image in my mind as if it is a full film scene. That sonic exploration of aural space is a stand-out factor for your composition for sure! Do you have a background in film scoring and/or sound design? Whether you do or do not, this is quite good and you have the potential to do some great stuff in those fields! Thank you for sharing!

This is some really encouraging feedback as you’ve experienced it exactly as I intended, thank you! I don’t have a background in either field but I would love to get involved in them, or for games! Seems like these jams are a good way to get started

The ability to clearly show the scene of someone walking down from the rain into a rave is great! I think that the piece would benefit from being 1-2min shorter, however. When we were near the rave, the music was very similar from about 1:30 to 3:05 and we didn't get to hear clearer aspects of the rave until 3:06 which lasted until about 3:39. There was a lot of build up for about 1.5 to 2 minutes and the payoff was very short at about 30 seconds. I think as a piece telling the story of someone approaching but then not interested in the rave, it's super clear and great! As a track though, I would have liked to hear a lot more payoff for the 3-minute build up.

This is excellent feedback thank you! I was definitely treading a line between soundscape and soundtrack! I do agree it is a bit lengthy but wanted to emphasise the feeling of travelling through a scene and felt it needed that slow transition, I wanted to keep the rave part simple and decided to keep it short so it didn’t become too repetitive, if it was in game I would have it linked to gameplay and character position rather than a set length

Such a creative mash up of multiple genres and feelings. This is amazing work!

Scary and chaotic. Really fits the picture. My favourite parts are the beginning and the end though, that's more my genre :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I definitely lean towards that genre as well, most of my tracks end up sounding like those parts but this time the rave snuck in ;)
