Artistic Statement / Use of Theme
Our game was inspired by the flood vulnerability of island communities, especially the Dominican Republic (Where one of our team members has family). We wanted to celebrate both the scientific progress that has been made to create climate solutions, and the necessity of working with community and community action in truly having a positive impact. We wanted the player to have difficult choices to grapple with and show that every choice have tradeoffs with no perfect solutions.

Development Summary
Our team of 6 worked well together! A 4-week game jam is a tricky timeline, because it's an enormous amount of time on a "typical" jam schedule of working nonstop, but no time at all on a more standard development cycle. Many of our team members had other commitments, such as work and other game projects, that made contributions inconsistent. Most notably, some work was done by artists, designers, and writers, that relied on the technical designer to implement to be part of the game. Some team members took a step back from communication during the last sprint, so unfortunately a good amount of that work didn’t end up in the final game. That said, we had a number of very productive meetings developing the game together, and everyone is proud of the finished product!

Release Plan
We had a lot of planned features that didn't get finished! Our final product has one level with a very simple puzzle. Future updates would introduce more abilities for the player (additional upgrade options and NPCs to help), and more challenging flood scenarios. After those additions, we'd love to create more interesting levels to add more challenge on other islands, with more characters and deeper stories. We'd also love to implement procedurally generated islands and storms for infinite replayability!

Love your game concept and mechanism. I assume you used pixel art for optimization. Clever move! Mapping the floor-wall technique is very thoughtful.

I really enjoy the cute pixel art style and the SFX, the cubic flood is an abstract and cost-effective way to represent the nightmare of this natural disaster. Also this theme actually matches with the latest news of japan tsunami!

This is a cute little game with very charming pixel art and characters/dialogue! I'll say your how to play text did help but an in-game tutorial is a necessity if you continue work on this game. Another thing I'd say it would be nice to know whether the flood or the storm is coming first, another thing that might be discoverable through the dialogue. I had to play through it a couple times to get the order down. Still you have a great base here for adding more levels and puzzle types, great work!

I think overall its a nice game, very good visuals and sounds, but I think there should be more with the introduction. Likely more guidance/tutorial on how to play and what to do. But overall great work!

The intro to this game could use a bit more guidance, but I think that you have a good prototype. I think adding more sound effectives to make the game feel more responsive would be good.

Cool game concept! I also wasn't too sure how to play the game at first, but came to understand after some lost turns. I really enjoyed the theme/message and the art style was really awesome!

Okay, the game is pretty good considering the effects of tsunamis and flooding, which are prominent problems related to climate change in Bangladesh. I think sometimes it's a bit hard to understand the direction of the water. Because the player is making decisions based on which direction the previous turn affected. That's how I was able to win anyway.

Overall, it's a pretty good game. I would suggest adding a directional flow symbol in the gameplay. That would add more interesting mechanics. Wind effects. The sound effect is really good already. The effect with the sound is already pretty good.

Adding more types of flood gates. Adding more complexities would make the gameplay better.

I've been following this game since the first voting period, and I think it turned out quite well. I really like the background wave sounds as well as all the other sound effects. The gameplay of moving buildings around and placing floodwalls was quite engaging for me. I also really like the art style for both the game board and the characters. A complaint that I have is that there should be an instructions menu due to the fact that, even with the game's relative simplicity, I had some trouble understanding the mechanics at times. Great job overall! Definitely looking forward to any updates this game gets!
