Are There Any Non-Cryptocurrency Alternatives To Itch.io?

I am not looking for a pirate site, either.

I am working on a dark fantasy RPG that has numerous elements of horror and controversy. No, the demo is not ready yet and no, I will not be charging anything for it, not even when the game is complete. However, because of what I am including in it,  there are many reasons that, even if I were to make a page for it here to post devlogs and the like on, there's a possibility that it would be taken down, since I do plan on at least using the "18+" tag, as it would fall somewhere between NC-17 and R, if we were talking movie ratings.

While I am very glad to see that there are people who either want to, or are currently trying to make, platforms for paid games of a more elicit nature than mine, I honestly don't think what I'm working on would fit on one of them, even if they weren't all for paid games.

I also do not believe my game is the only one that has the potential of falling through the cracks and vanishing into the void, because of the fine line it walks.

So, I'm wondering: is there currently, or is anyone working on, an alternative platform that does not run on cryptocurrency, that a WIP game like mine could potentially be posted on?

If you're distributing the game for free, make your own website on Neocities and you can distribute it that way. You'd have to find a service to host the game files, but having your own website would give you far more control than depending on a storefront.

Unfortunately at this point then you're at risk to the UK's Online Safety act if they happen across your website since there's no carve out for small companies/individuals, even if you're based in a completely different country. I saw the Urban Dead took themselves down because of it. (though it has UGC so that might be part of why)

I haven't heard of any Neocities websites getting hit by that yet, but even if they somehow manage to hit my website despite me not living in the UK, I have backups so I don't lose anything if my site goes down. If they want to play whack-a-mole with my website, then so be it, but I don't plan on going down easy. I'm not going to comply in advance.

I mean its not that they're taking down websites, but hitting people with big ass (10M+) fines. Though how they expect to apply that to people outside of the UK I don't know. I don't think they've actually hit anyone with a fine yet. We'll see how it turns. Like, in my opinion it is crazy that they're trying to police people who live outside of the UK but its a bill that is a BIG overreach of government surveillance and censorship.

No, there aren't, your only option is to use Bitcon from now on.

Nah, i'm kidding. There is a dude or girl in other thread 'Kertero' who shared some sites that don't look like they use cripto or whatever.

I made a copy-paste of his post:

I don't know about these sites. If somebody has info about them to share. But i found some ones.

https://raccreativegames.com

https://isotopic.io/game-store/

https://playforceone.com/

https://idev.games/

https://www.kongregate.com/

But i hope we don't need to leave in the end. Is not itch betrayed us, is more like a visa/mastercard extortion powered by Collective Shout.

I think the isotopic one is the only crypto one.
