  • Your GDD is clear and easy to follow, with key points well highlighted. I really appreciated how accessible the document was, though it would be great to see a bit more depth on the core mechanics — especially the paint functionality. A brief glimpse into how it works behind the scenes could add a lot of insight without needing full technical detail. My first impression of the game is that it feels more like a creative software tool than a traditional game, which was unexpected. I enjoyed the limitations on shapes and colors — drawing Pac-Man and ghosts within those constraints was fun! I think expanding it with a light story and unlocking new colors over time could add depth while keeping the sandbox spirit intact.

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarize your game!
One Shape Paint is a sandbox game where you can create your own art piece while painting with only one available shape, but multiple color combos.

Mechanics :
→ Paint : click on the paint area to apply the selected colors
→ Rotate : click on a specific shape to rotate it
→ Bucket : paint the entire paint area with the same color combo
→ Shuffle : fill the paint area with a randomize painting
→ Download : download a png version of the paint area

Please explain how your game fits the theme.
I decided to go for a constraint that is also applied to the players who are using the game to create something themselves. They only have one available shape to paint. From the constraint comes creativity: it’s easy to think that constraints are chaining creativity, but our minds are way more stimulated from a constraint than from a blank page (it’s why I love jams). Players can experience the hesitation coming from their own doubt of being able to create something considered “art”, but as the game is constraining them, they will create something beautiful no matter what. “Oh, I can be an artist too !”

Well, I'm gonna show off on my Monday to my art director friend with this. Simple, cozy, beautiful and the music player was a nice touch. I think it'd be interesting if we could change the palette too, but this is lovely as it is!
I included it in a small list of my favourite entries from this jam. You can see it here (along with my "masterpieces"), let me know if you'd like me to remove it or change anything!

This game is so relaxing, I love the music and the general aesthetic. I spent a solid half hour just trying to fill the whole screen with edge-matching tiles :3
