- Gives a good taste of older retro game with the shooter. Great variety of enemies. Some of the enemies didn't seem to match kill shot counts, was this a variable? Which is okay, it's all about learning. I found it hard in a good way but having some scale for easy to hard for targets to have lower health may be a good option to add for those who're not normal shooter fans. The art was fun and the sprites were very different and easy to recall on. Backgrounds were good but some felt a little stretched or flatted. This could have been from the resolution. Try doubling the size of your background and be sure it's dividable by 1920x1080, and you can test the visual in Godot to see how it moves with the window. It still would be nice to have you put the sprites in your GDD with labels and ideas of how they are made or how you came up with them! Also the music was nice and fit what you made (It reminded me of Hospital games form the 80s), have fun with it! With mention of the GDD it was very well laid out and gave a lot of detail. Put your art and the ideas for them in there as well. Think of it like a 'How it's Made' episode. It's always great to see the work and effort you put in and how it came to be. It's just helps the judges really see into your vision and work. The game overall was very fun, the movement felt good for the levels. And I found myself restarting several times. You're efforts really paid off with this! Keep making levels and trying new things, the game doesn't have to just be here you can keep learning from it and it's a great tool to do that, so far it's a great start. Really enjoyed the boss fights. I do wish shooting could have been space bar, but that is more of a personal pref then about the game itself. I found arrow keys and z to be my most comfortable use case. The art was fun and the sprites were very different and easy to recall on. Summarize your game!
One White Blood Cell is an action shoot-em up game. You are the last white blood cell. It's up to you to protect the body from hordes of viruses and infections.
Controls Keyboard Gamepad
Movement WASD, Arrow Keys D-Pad, Left stick
Shoot Z, / A
Pause Esc Start
Confirm Enter A, Start
Game mechanics: Shoot enemies to score points and gain HP. At max HP your firing rate increases. Enemies also have the chance to drop level up items. Leveling up increases your shooting capacity and getting hit brings it down.
Please explain how your game fits the theme.
The theme not only applies to the white blood cell, it also applies to the body the game takes place in; there is only one life and one chance to live.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Nope!

Nicely done, fun simple shooter
Thanks for playing!
Nostalgic) Reminds me of Space Impact I used to play a lot on my old Nokia
Thank you for playing!
I really like the idea. The art looks unique, the music gives me a nostalgic feel to games I played when I was young and the gameplay is smooth. Although I would have liked a little slow tutorial level to get to know the controls and gameplay better first. I also struggled holding down the shoot button as I have a QUERTZ keyboard (The Z and Y are exvhanged) which made holding down the shoot button unpleasant
But all in all great Game with a really nice Concept & Idea and catchy music !
Thanks for playing, I'll keep the keyboard thing in ming for the future.
I do like scroller shooters. I got to the 2nd boss, and noticed there that the lives system is a little different than others. I suppose it helps with the run though, but you do burn through them with no way to get more health at a boss. And the bosses are pretty bullet spongey with not much variance to their attacks. Usually bosses that tankey will have a 2nd phase or something. The difficulty is good IMO but you should add an easy mode. Also for sure you should redraw the background at a much higher resolution
Thanks for playing, and I appreciate the feedback!
Great little game! I found the art style to be simple and refreshing. Always good to see an "invaders" game.
While I might just have skill issues, I did find the game to be incredibly difficult. I tried a few different strategies several times, but nothing got me past the first level. I shot some of them many times, but they didn't seem to die. Eventually, I realized that they just had a ton of health.
Another thing, you probably will not get recognized as much as you should for the wide selection enemies. Most people would make two enemies and maybe a boss (for a game jam), but you created many unique obstacles for the player.
If you wouldn't mind playing the game I worked on, Ricochet by woutan
Great work!
Thanks, glad you like it!
