  • The GDD gave me a great understanding of the game before stepping in, it was incredibly detailed! You have interpreted the theme in a unique manor and you can clearly see where the inspiration has helped you develop this game. The design inspiration and implementation were brilliant. The fantastic level of detail implemented is mind blowing for a game that you spent 2 weeks developing! The artwork was all incredibly detailed, the shadows and lighting added so much depth to each level. I really got the vibe of being trapped in a mental institution with the padded walls. The initial room contained a lot of very useful information, I would like to see some information on the controls for the game but that is just a minor detail. It would also be great if the blueprint wasn't fully displayed in the first room, rather i would integrate the blueprints into the room design. Including adding them into random generation of each room would add another level of difficulty and 'mind-fuckery' to the game. Overall this is a very fun game that I could easily see going a long way when fully developed and released. Please keep working on this game!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
yes

Summarize your game!
False Positive is a short psychological horror game about walking through four rooms, each with a strange twist. Your goal is to figure out what's wrong and make the right choices to keep moving forward. The rules of each room are explained as you go, and it’s up to you to spot what doesn’t belong. The game focuses on observation, pattern recognition, and environmental storytelling, all wrapped in a tense and minimal atmosphere. Controls are simple: move with WASD, interact with Left Click. For the best experience, play in full screen with sound on.

Please explain how your game fits the theme.
- only one correct path to walk
- only one correct version of each room
- only one that ever escaped from the experiment

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
have mercy im new

Love the aesthetics and lore!

But the camera is obviously bugged. It was very hard to look around. I played on PC (Chrome).

And the death sound is such a screamer!!! Not sure if it's intentional, but it was too much for me

Developer

when you say the camera was bugged and it was hard to look around, could you describe what you mean? It is the first time im hearing about a camera issue, after testing it with 15 people. I really want to fix that bug. If possible even send me a video on discord DamianZ#9770

I finally managed to play it with a proper camera.

Seems like the problem occurs only if you Alt+Tab and come back to the game. You mouse cursor becomes able to leave the game screen. While it's outside, the game doesn't pick up mouse inputs.

So, as long as the player doesn't interrupt the game, he's gonna be fine) But, I guess, some people would do it just like me, so they can make a screenshot of the right path in the starting room.

Developer

Yes, itch.io exits out the game on alt+tab or esc button. But that is amazing feedback, i will now add a simple click to bring the mouse back into the game. I really appreciate this.

Some additional feedback:

  • I'd place reset buttons onto safe floor tiles
  • I'm not sure if reset actually changes anything. I see the stuff flying around, but after the reset it all gets back where it was
Developer

Yeah i can see the button being on a not safe tile can be tricking the player. I wanted to put it on safe tile, but that will allow some path cheating. I will try to figure out a different way, like placing it on the wall or the door itself. And about the rooms changing, each room has 4 versions. 1 correct, 3 false. The differences are small. One item may be wrong or missing. So the whole idea is that the player would have to observe each item based on which room they are. Of course, since there are only 4 versions, it does happen that some rooms will repeat. Great feedback as well, especially about the button. You rock dude!

I want to try to play this again, but it was super laggy. I could barely move and look around. I am just on a tablet, but I wonder if you just need to compile a release with optimization or maybe add a frame rate limit?

Developer

This specific html export is for windows, so its possible that the frame rate issue comes from the incompatibility of the devices. But i will see what i can do to fix this. Thanks for the feedback, i appreciate it.
