- I was not expecting a game of checkers to be such a fun and enjoyable experience but here we are :D Your GDD is well structured, you explain things well and your development process is easy to follow. The audio makes the game seem even more fast paced than it already is, I like the skill selection, and yes I also appreciate the little breather it gives the player. The game itself looks pretty good, it's clear you put some work into your project and I really like your idea. At first I thought your game wasn't a good fit for the game but I was wrong, being the only checkers stone left AND aiming to be the only game piece left total is actually a theme well implemented! Thank you for participating in the game jam, I had a blast playing your game, well done!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes
Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes
Summarize your game!
Check’er is a roguelike game where you control a checkers piece in a revenge quest against chess pieces, with the goal of surviving as long as possible.
Controls:
A - Left Diagonal
D - Right Diagonal,
Q - Trigger Active Skill
Left Click - Interact with UI
Please explain how your game fits the theme.
--> All other checkers pieces have been destroyed.
Now it’s only you versus the chess pieces. <--
Because this is a movement based roguelike, the idea is that if you made a checkers roguelike, the endgame movement would basically be chess. So we interpreted it in two ways: we have the last checkers piece going after pieces that are from a “stronger” game, and in the process you become more like them. So you start as only one, but your goal is also to defeat all of them, and become the only piece left.

Very fun. It's nice to have the pressure of piece attacking you, but not on every square. Gives you the opportunity to plan you're route without being able to stop after every square. Music slaps.
Fun and a little addicting, it's fun to just quickly navigate through the crowds of pawns. I think it's a little too easy though, if you wanted to develop it further I think the difficulty needs to scale up in some way as you go farther.
Yeah, kind of a problem, we will address this after a gooood rest xD.
Thank you for playing!
It's quite interesting. I like the visuals and the sound effects and it felt like a little arcade game. Maybe I'm just really bad, but were there any other pieces than pawns? I didn't see any.
Thanks for playing! There isn't in this prototype :/
We had a lot of ideas on how to improve the game with stages and bosses but due to our lack of experience we couldn't bring them to life. But that is not the end! We have a lot to learn and surely will complete this game :)
