Judge feedback

Judge feedback is anonymous.

  • The game itself is extremely simple but does have an interesting atmosphere! The theme interpretation is on point, but there is not much to comment on gameplay-wise. The content of you GDD is good, but the complete lack of formatting makes it tedious to read through, I am unsure if this was a mistake. Try to make sure your GDD is both filled out and properly formatted before starting work on your game, this should makes things easier to track in the future.

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes. It worked on a private browser.

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes.

Summarize your game!
You are fishing up various things: fish to eat, notes to read, chests to open, and items to sell. Sometimes you fish up the trader, who will buy any item you can hold. He will help you get $100, which will allow you to ascend.

Please explain how your game fits the theme.
Mechanically, you can only have one item in your inventory. Thematically, you are the only one on the raft in the ocean.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
I like the vibes.

Don't know what I was expecting, but I enjoyed the little game loop. Reading all the various lore was fun! One critique would be that I don't think the trader told me the correct amount of gold I had each time, but it still seemed to work fine, just not show me my amount correctly. The credits music did not have to go so hard. That was really good!

Thanks for your thoughtful review! You are correct: the Trader is saying how much money you have before he takes your item. Ironically, he has the only two known coding errors left in the game. I'll be sure to let my musician know you liked his music!

This was an interesting little game. Gave me Old School RuneScape vibes fishing and having random events pop up. I loved the music and the art style. The creepy guy scared me at first, but you did a fantastic job with the world building here while keeping it simple.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll have to let my bros know you liked their work!
