Great job getting this going but yeah, I couldn't finish the first level and I thought I had rhythm! Could be a very unique game if you choose to return to it

i like the idea of using rhythm to stop rhythm, like other commenters have said i couldn't clear a level, but i think u had a good idea with this game and appreciate the effort

Dance Dance Stop is a cool cool game. I was very frustrated at first with trying to figure out exactly how it works. I think the tutorial could've been replaced with a progression of simpler levels. Also, you could've saved time on the artwork by making the enemies just abstract shapes and then added post-processing like screenshakes and effects to reintroduce visual appeal. The visuals are fine, though, since they were never meant to be the star of the show. Just saying, you could have saved some time there and added more levels. Once I figured out how the game worked, it was a very enjoyable puzzle game where every option creates a fun beat one, and the level solves are even more satisfying. This concept has some serious potential, and I think you should continue development. I don't think I can give it 5 stars in every category (the categories are kinda random and just bad), but I do think it's one of the most unique games in the jam.

Note: I think lvl 1 is bugged cus i shouldve cleared it but couldve been smth on my end

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback.
You're actually hitting on a bunch of points I was feeling myself but you're expressing them more clearly than I could myself.
It was the first time for me joining a game jam like this and having the time constraints really changes how you think about your choices. Whereas I might have gone back to fix some stuff if I had more time I feel like I pushed through at some points even though I was feeling something's a bit off.
Especially the fact that there should have been easier levels resonates with me. I actually even think the problem is a bit more fundamental, that is, it's hard to know whether or not you're doing the right thing.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback!!!

I never succeeded in clearing a level, but enjoyed the concept.
