this is a beautifully crafted game :) the artwork and audio contribute to a very nice and zen experience

This looks AMAZING. A simple concept but executed really well. Even if you didn't have time to model it properly, the silly placeholder kraken has its own charm :)

Seeing a game with a similar concept to ours has certainly been fun. You've made a lot of different decisions compared to us and that in itself made the game just a bit more fun for me. Overall it was quite a satisfying, yet challenging experience.

Some of the design choices you've made are genuinely brilliant, and I wish we had though of them too, like a combo for catching many fish at once or a fish that intentionally messes with your net. That's not too say this is the only positive thing, far from it - the 3d work is quite impressive for such a short jam, the fish catching feels very rewarding thanks to the crispy visuals and sound, granting immediate gratification, and the sound design felt very on point and again, led to more satisfaction from the game.

However if you guys would allow me, I would also like to provide a bit of constructive feedback. This isn't to say the game isn't good (far from it), but these few points would elevate the experience to the next level. I would have really appreciated a fuel gauge to know when the day ended and I wish the hitboxes of the fish were communicated a bit clearer. I often found myself in situations thinking I'd make an easy catch, only to see the line break in a spot I didn't expect. Also I know you probably ran out of time, but some kind of a reward or an ending for killing the kraken would be nice.

All in all this was a nice satisfying game, with great visuals and fitting sound design, that I'd gladly play for longer if it was possible. Thank you for finding us and showing us your game, to see a different idea for the concept and I hope you don't mind me nit-picking a few minor downsides in hopes your next games are even better. I'd also appreciate if you could tell me who your lead designer was, so I can follow them and check your game out next year 😉.

Hi Tymon, first of all thank you so much for the nice words and the really elaborated feedback :)
Most of the development team is working for the same company and we are teaming up for game jams regularly. I would love to connect to have a further conversation about the fundamental concept we are sharing for our games.

Hard at the start, but great vibes!

I'll admit the pun in the title sold me, but this game is genuinely fun ! Honestly, the start is hard, and I feel there is some information missing (like a gauge for the fuel left) but once I understood how it works, it was lots of fun ! Plus, I always liked sea-themed games :)

Very fun! Great visuals!

Blue fish OP, please nerf! 😅
Very nice, loved the concept. A bit hard at first, but the progression with the upgrades feels just right for a jam. Congrats!

Well done! I didnt get to the kraken because it's hard to control the ship with the touchpad, but it's quite fun! I would love to place some bait to lure the fish in one place and get those pesky blue and yellow outta my face.

Such a great idea! Would love to see that feature in our game :)

This is very good. I really liked the unique take on a fishing game and gave the feeling of net fishing

Very polished game, it was a lot of fun to play. At first it felt almost impossible to catch anything, then as I got upgrades it was a lot of fun!

Wonderful visuals and execution. liked the progression system a lot. well done.

I will deeply appreciate your feedback on my game too. ^^

I can see this being a full game! Nice hook and visuals

Wonderful, creative and fun. Althought it is a lot tricky to pull off in the beginning.

Fun game, I really like the artstyle!

Well done!

The camera with the kraken made using a trackpad very annoying. I'm sure with a mouse I wouldn't have had any frustrations, but successfully bagged the kraken :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing. Yes alternative control schemes for trackpad and controller would have been nice to add.

Absolutely gorgeous. (Dory can go burn in hell though)

Love the game!

Loop around fish to catch them. It sounds easy, but it's actually surprisingly fun and challenging.

I would never consider aspects of managing net length, speed, and gas tank into gameplay and make it this much fun!
