Very cool take on the loop theme. It reminds me of tech classes from my childhood, so there's an element of nostalgia there, but I could definitely see myself getting lost in hours of this. Good job !

Thanks so much! I really appreciate your kind words and glad you enjoyed it! :)

great game design! i was a little confused as to the sound the player does when he's hitting a wall. also the objects sometimes aren't clear which position of the grid they're on. aside from that, the game ran very good, with very fun puzzles! great work!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed the puzzles :)
I agree, the wall sound is a bit off, I probably should have picked a different one. Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate you playing and taking the time to comment!

Very cool puzzle game. I was bit stumped at first, because the game says to avoid the gray squares, but it turns out hitting them isn't fail state, but actually needed to progress. So maybe some communication to player that hitting walls is part of solutions. Also small minor quality of life to have the arrow pool be sorted by direction, plus the sound thing others mentioned.
Had fun playing it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I actually meant for the walls to be a kind of “danger” the player can get stuck at, but also has to figure out how to use cleverly to succeed. I get how that might be unclear, so maybe I should have added a hint. I appreciate you pointing it out, and I’m glad you had fun! :)

Super fun game. Simple use of the theme to create a fun puzzle game. With some more levels this could easily go to the app store for mobile. I think the 11th level is bugged. My square died as if there was a hole on an empty square.

Developer

Thank you so much, that really means a lot to me! I might actually consider adding more levels and releasing it as an app. I really appreciate the encouragement :) As for level 11, yeah, I’ve heard a few players report about it. It does have a working solution, but there might be ways to break it that I didn’t catch. I added the solution to that level on the game page in case someone gets stuck. The last few levels were definitely less polished due to time constraints. Thanks again for playing and for the kind words!

Very clean design! I appreciate that a lot. As someone else said, I think the sfx are quite a bit louder than the music, particularly the level complete sound. I would also like to either click on the commands or actually input them with the keyboard, rather than having to click & drag them into place. Congrats on a nice jam!

Developer

Thanks so much for the kind words about the design, I really appreciate it! And thanks for the thoughtful feedback. I thought the sounds would work better that way for some reason, but lesson learned. The other ways to fill the sequence are actually great suggestions too, I’ll definitely keep them in mind. Thanks again :)

Cute, clean simple artstyle. Faster movement would have been good, and maybe reduce the volume of the sound effects in comparison to the music, I found them a bit intense!

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback! Glad you liked the style :) Faster movement and sound balance are great points, I’ll keep those in mind.

Hello! 1/2 of the Boot Loop team here. Love to see others run with similar ideas. Everything here is just my opinion so take with grain of salt.

If possible, speed the game up by about 50%. The player is meant to fail and fail a lot. Let them experiment and minimize friction for screwing up. On the flip side, our game probably could be a bit more on the nose with death recap, so don't swing pendulum too hard over ;)

I also got stuck on 11, not sure if the loop timed out or I made some error hitting a hole, but it wasn't immediately obvious what happened, so as a player I need more feedback.

Finally, the graphics and style of it is clean and nice. I liked the limitation of tiles to use, it constrains the search space for puzzle solutions.
Overall, good fun!

Developer

Thanks so much for the detailed feedback! I really appreciate you taking the time to try my game and share your thoughts.

Your point about speed makes a lot of sense, and I’ll definitely keep it in mind.

Regarding level 11, there’s actually no timeout in the game, so it should have worked, I guess there might be a bug I wasn’t aware of. Every level does have a solution that I intended, but there might still be ways to break things I didn’t catch. Also, the last few levels (11–14) had less time for retesting and polish due to time constraints, so I appreciate you pointing this out.

I’m really glad you enjoyed the puzzles and the style, and had some fun with it! I also enjoyed running into a similar idea and had fun trying it out :)

A good puzzle game — I love puzzles, and I really enjoyed this one :)

Visually, it looks quite simple, without anything excessive, but it’s more than enough to feel pleasant overall.
I got stuck on level 11 after accidentally breaking the command field for the cards (screenshot attached) by moving the “loop” card by mistake xD
Also, it feels like the game board is meant to be a grid, but sometimes the character moves unevenly relative to other elements, which makes it seem like some of the objects were placed manually. If that’s the case, I’d recommend using a 2D array or a tilemap — whichever suits you better.
Today I also played a good game with a very similar gameplay mechanic — you might find it interesting to check out: https://quietcoro.itch.io/bootloop
Overall, great job — keep it up!

Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it! :)

I went with a simpler visual and setup since I didn’t have the full time or help during this jam. Originally planned something more dynamic grid-wise with more options, and didn’t get a chance to refactor it. But you’re right, a tilemap would definitely fit better.

And I honestly didn’t realize the command field could break like that, thanks for pointing it out xD

Thanks for pointing out the similar game idea, it was definitely interesting to see!

Thanks for the feedback!

Loved trying this! This style of game was one of my initial ideas but I couldn't really get it how I wanted during playtesting so I switched my game. You executed it really well though, nice work!

Developer

Thanks so much! I'm really glad you liked how it turned out :)  Your current idea looks really cool!

Very fun puzzle game. I think there shouldve been more sfx for things like moving and the buttons reacting when clicked, but honestly its not a big deal. I've spent more time on this game than I have on most others.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and for the great feedback! I agree, I thought about adding more, but ended up going with those. I really appreciate you spending so much time with the game, that means a lot!

a lot of intresting puzzles things didnt seem to align to the grid well so some things were a little confusing to me

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you found the puzzles interesting :)

And yeah, you're right about the grid ,  I originally planned a more dynamic layout and actions, but ended up running out of time to change that. Appreciate the feedback!
