How does your game fit the theme?
Loop Dogg is all about staying in the flow and continuing the loop. Keep rhyming with the freshest bars, from a random selection of words, to stay rapping and achieve the highest score. Also, creating a literal loop from the word selection will help rid you of unwanted words. The bars never end until you mess up!

I love the unique ideas. I like the art,ideas and the execution of the concept.
The choice of words can be sorted to help reduce the need to understand linguistic structure which may help with the learning curve
Some of the UI do require more polishing in term of cognitive overload but over all this can go further from what is done within a short time span.

This is such a vibe! I wasn't particularly good at it, but still caught myself playing just one more round each time. Super fun concept and the theme of loops is well integrated. The art style is also super cool and distinct looking. Amazing job with the game! :))

As a non native English speaker, I had an hard time creating a flow with a timer running out. But I guess I should practice more my rap in all language ! Luckily, you could circle all the words really quickly and still got lot of points (Feel like an hacker)
By the way, I got around 12725 points until the game stopped.
Pretty sure it recognize my lyrics made no sense at all. Haha ! Good job !
I'm glad you were able to get some joy out of it despite not being a native english speaker! If we were to ever move forward in this project, different languages would definitely be something I'd love to implement! And also you're right.. it occurred to us too late that there isn't really a win condition, just a lose condition! Our hope is that Mark Brown's words were wise in saying that fun matters more than anything for a game jam game lol
Fun simple game idea, the execution is fantastic from art to design.
This is so creative and cool! It had me sweating. I thought it was paced well, fast enough to panic a bit but still have time to rhyme. I felt like sometimes there were just no words available that rhymed, could have been my own skill issue, but I'd be curious to know how you structure the word bank. Great job!
heya, dev here, glad you liked it! I spoke about it a bit in another comment, but getting the word bank was two pronged
1. Processing a data set of over 100,000 rap lyrics
2. Data set of a bunch of words with their phonemes
3. Grabbing (clean) words from the rap lyrics based on its frequency and Voses algorithm
4. Checking it against the phoneme data set to see if I can detect what it rhymes with.
The data sets were stored as csvs in the game data and then loaded into dictionaries on runtime (hence the relatively long load time for what presents itself as a pretty simple game)
in hindsight I should’ve combined step 4 into step 1 but was too late for that by the time I realised !

As a point of interest, i believe the occasional hangs people have experienced is when the cross reference fails and the game can’t generate a new word that rhymes (despite my attempts to create redundancy)

I didn't like being told "You suck" when I'm the one trying to learn! I do like the fun and interesting art and the take on the "loop" them. Bad news: the game crashed for me a couple of times.

Nice concept, a little bit confusing at first, but very enjoyable after you get the hang of it!
Really fun game, especially when you say your silly little rap out loud. Art is super charming too.

It was pretty satisfying getting some unexpected bars which would actually make for some good motivational quotes! It did take me a while to get the hang of it, and the points I scored can feel random but I like the idea a lot.

Cool concept! Definitely took some getting used too, but it was fun! I got to ~11,000 but then it hung. (actually the entire browser tab locked up, that might've been a problem on my end)

This remind me a lot of another game i play this year with the purpose to make your rhymes and be a rap god ! I suck at your game lol, but i had a lot of fun trying to be good and makes rhymes getting me good scoring (you already i was not very good to score xD)

Super clever idea! Very cool, super satisfying feeling getting bars to rhyme. I do think the choice of font made it difficult to read quickly. But, really loved this!
