I am very happy with these ratings. Thank you to everyone who played the game!
I have released a post-jam update, which I hope will address the most common issues people had with the game. Namely:
- slots being 0-255 is now explained in the tutorial, and an "overflow" and "underflow" text is displayed when an overflow/underflow happens
- you can now disable the background in settings
- you can now press pause to begin execution paused
- it is now clearer when you can and can't press some buttons, and "Run 1" is always visible
If you encounter any bugs, let me know!

Great game! I had known about BF for a while, but never got around to learning it (despite it being only 8 commands), but this made it incredibly easy to learn and conceptualize! The puzzles are just the right level of difficulty, and I love the sound effects that go with them! My only complaint is that you did not actually solve the halting problem, and I was able to make the game "loop infinitely" after only 10,240 steps in sandbox mode (I did not deduct rating for this since you are bound by the laws of computation). Fun puzzles, simple visuals, intuitive UI, and satisfying sounds all make this an incredible game worthy of success!
Gonna say, I find the story premise and the presentation (explosions!!!) to be absolutely hilarious, enjoyed every bit of it. And the puzzles are really good; I didn't expect programming puzzles based on BF to work because it is such a famous and simplistic language, but the limits you imposed on the player made the puzzles very effective and fun to solve. Good job!
I played this with a smile on my face. I really like how simple the UI is, and I like the way it makes you think. I could have brute forced all the levels, but I chose not to and had a really nice "Aha!" moment for that last level. Also the level design is incredibly good, each one building upon and subverting the ideas of the previous levels. If polish or user experience was a rating option, it would be 5 stars. Unfortunately, the narrative feels tacked on just because it was a rating requirement, and the art work is so simple, I doubt it would get a high average score, but I'll rate it higher, just because the UX is so nice.
Yeah, I added the narrative because of the rating, and most likely wouldn't have otherwise (I find it a bit odd it's a rating this year, it wasn't for any of the previous ones, and a lot of people completely missed it and had no narrative) but I tried to integrate it into the game somewhat. (I'm just not a good writer lol). I'm glad you enjoyed the level design and UX! I put a lot of effort into those.
This is the perfect response to the theme, it pushes all my buttons in all the right ways, and feels more polished than could be expected in just 4 days. Hats off to you!

As someone with a passing interest in esolangs this was right up my alley, and very well executed too. It's rare to see a game try and make something like this a puzzle component for a more casual audience and imo it succeeds fantastically. Great job!
I guess i certified in one more language now. I actually tried to understand what i am doing and first try every level. Successfully most of the time. Interesting idea for a game
Who woulda thought you could make something so simple so satisfying. Excellent work.
The sound design really makes this next level addicting.
Incredible idea. A note: the rule that a slot overflows back to 0 when you hit 256 is not explained at all. This leads to programs that intuitively feel like they should loop but don't, like +[+].
What a brilliant idea for the theme.
making loops with code and breaking the system
great job.
you knew what you were doing with that clickbait ass title lmfao. 10/10 game; creative use of the theme, solid puzzles, fitting audio/visuals and i properly giggled when it told me how many kilojoules that im providing to those poor freezing families. my only fault is that like another commenter said you couldve done with explaining over/underflow, but tbh its not too hard to figure out and a huge chunk of your playerbase for a jam is programmers so its all good. Apart from that I think the explanation was really well done ^^
I didn't expect that after four days of nonstop programming I would enjoy even more programming, and enjoy it this much. I also want to issue a formal apology to brainfuck, I always thought it was a gimmicky joke language, "I wasn't familiar with your game"
