How does your game fit the theme?
A bird is stuck in a loop, it is your job to keep him alive. I really struggled with the theme

No assets were used, everything was drawn in Pico 8. I did use Bing for inspiration

Trappy bird! (…I hope that doesn't mean anything bad, I was just making a play on words with the name and flappy bird.)
I got a high score of 17 so far. Also it looks like the top of the left wall doesn't have collision; that's how I lost when I got 16 the first time.
oh dear, sorry about that. In this version the collision is a single point so you likely got that off the screen and over the top of tiles… I’ll have to have a look into it.
Im exploring making a better version so this will go on the bug list.
I managed to score 26. I think the trickery made the game more challenging. Nice work!
thanks for playing it
Like a contained flappy bird, very cute! It feels very concise
thanks for playing <3
Nice artwork and a good game. I felt the bird was quite heavy. Nevertheless, well done in the limited time.
he is well fed!
thanks for playing it <3
Haha. Brilliant.
Stuck in a development loop whilst developing a loop based game .. nice and meta. Well done on your submission, and I think you suggested developments sound fun. I think perhaps tweak the controls too so avoid too much of a jump in the third (?) flap :)
thanks for trying it out, I’ve already fixed the jumping bug but unfortunately we are not allowed to update while voting is open.
Such a silly oversight, I left the vertical speed uncapped 😩
Easily done and well done on finding it so quickly. I also do a different jam - the OLC Jam (next one later this month), and that allows a couple of days grace for bug fixes ... it was quite something trying to get everything perfect for the deadline this time!! :)
I do the GDTV one, they allow fixes but not features, but they are not strict at all, it’s about finishing something.
I’ll have to have a look at OLC

Well done on your submission. It's challenging but addicting. The differences between a short hop and a much bigger hop are definitely where the learning curve is. I think it would benefit from a simple layer of narrative, maybe setting up that the bird is stuck in a crazy experiment or they are testing out a medieval torture device, something to set the premise!
I appreciate the suggestion, it wouldn’t be too hard to add a tiny story to it. I am working on it in the background based on everyone’s feedback :)
This would be 10000000 times better if the controls actually worked. Not to be rude or anything or anything but the controls are all over the place.
Thanks for playing, there is a silly bug that I didn’t catch while developing it, I have fixed it but unfortunately we are not allowed to update the game on itch until voting ends.
Flappy Bird from your nightmares-- I wasted way too much time on this; the core loop is so fun / brutal.
I’m glad you found some fun in it, thanks for playing, it wasn’t intended to be this brutal, a bug was found when the submission window closed 🥹
I like the game but dam those jumps can be brutal
Thanks for playing, unfortunately I didn’t spot a bug in development (uncapped vertical speed, so you can turn into a rocket)
I like the art and concept! I just think in terms of movement it feels a little unforgiving.
I agree there, I find it easy but I’ve play tested with a few mates and I'm surprised they all struggle with it.
I noticed a multi jump issue where you go up like a rocket 🤣
I like penguins, I like pixel aesthetic, I like this game! The back and forth is a lovely twist
thanks for trying it out!
Nice integration of flappy bird style with the looping theme. Since you die when you go past the top and bottom, maybe you could add spikes or some other way to signal the danger. Great work overall.
thanks for playing it. Agree, there was meant to be some kind of danger at the top or bottom, I’m not sure what.
I think I’d like to revisit this idea, with some more power ups, maybe shrink the graphics so I can fit more in the 128x128 frame.
Good game
thanks for playing it mate!
