Nice concept! Would have loved to unearth different type of artefacts, maybe have a new mechanic after a while? It was fun to play :)
Nice concept. It's a little simple in execution, but in all honesty - so is mine. And I think this is a more creative mechanic! Could work in a larger game as a mini-game.

It's fun to dig deeper and deeper in to the ground. I would like more strategy in this process but as proof of concept it is good.
Thanks for playing! I was thinking of adding a scoring system for how precisely you uncovered artifacts, but I spent a lot of time getting the shader to work for the concept.
The game is easy to understand and very fun to play.
