Ranked from 22 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does your game fit the theme?
Your friend has left you to keep watch over his place, but he hasn’t kept you in the loop! The game is designed to loop through the same tasks each day, but for now, it’s limited to a single-day cycle.

Walked through the table in the living room at first and was worried I messed up at first haha. Fun game. Great work!

hahahahaha bro when the phone guy said water the plants, i walked over to the window and just saw one million plants, that was such a funny moment. really funny to just walk around and accidentally keep ruining the house - when it started I was like, yeah this is gonna be a piece of cake, i'll look after it all, but then i just started smashing things accidentally and planks started glitching over doors ahahhahaha, really loved living in this world for a bit <3 thank you, great charming submission my king

I'm glade you enjoyed it, thank you

Stressful game! Phone calls, plants being knocked over or just dying. Fun idea. The phone messages give it character

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the review,

I'm planning to add more voices to the game over time too, like a pizza guy who might show up randomly, and if you don’t buy his pizza, he throws it on the house. That’ll come after I add the old lady who steals flowers, plus the dog and the fish tank.
I’ve got a lot I want to expand on after the jam!

btw the plants die if they’re either overwatered or not watered at all.

At the moment, they slowly wilt to death if left dry, but they instantly die if overwatered. I’m thinking about making the overwatering death a bit less sudden, maybe giving it a different look, like the plant going into full flop mode or something along those lines.

Hire me I water plants soooooo good.   Too bad there isn't a dog I can constantly feed bacon.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for this comment! I am 1000% going to add bacon in the fridge that you can feed to the dog, along with regular dog food, or even just by itself... once I add the dog of course. 🐶🥓

My final score was -557 so I'd say I was a pretty good house sitter

Developer

With a score like that I trust you to watch over my possessions any day! 🤣

Submitted(+1)

I couldn't quite understand what to do in the game so i followed the instruction and destroyed the house. At some point I left the bed on the roof but couldn't join it there :)

Could be nice to have a throwing system and things like windows you can break.

Also you were talking about score but I couldn't see them so I have no idea how well I performed.

Waiting for the dog update !

Developer

The score gets shown to you at the end of the level, it takes 12min from 24 in game hours to pass.

In the future I'm 100% going to put in breakable windows as well as make all the furniture breakable and show damage. The furniture is currently already taking damage but its not being shown.

Also going to add bats to hit things with and the ability to throw.

Very practical to have a portable land line phone!

🤣

I could see some potential for some great shenanigans as it develops into more of a loop. Well done getting it there for the Game Jam!

Developer

Thank you! I think once I add the fish tank and the dog, things will get a lot more interesting. They’ll use the same rigid body controller as the player, so the dog will be able to knock things over and you'll have to put it all back. I’m also planning to add a mop so you can clean up after the dog's mess... especially if you don’t get it outside in time! 😅

V. nice. Sometimes I picked up items I wasn't looking at that were behind me instead of what the text on screen said I was going to pick up, e.g took me several tries to pick up the couch when there were other items in the room. I also somehow picked up the phone model through the wall when in the garage looking at the watering can. I liked the day/night cycle especially when I first noticed some light coming through one of the doors that wasn't there before, though it made it a bit too dark in the garden area to do much. Also went for a cheeky walk down the street, no boundary to stop me doing that?
Also liked the over-watering mechanic but I didn't want to water the doors when I open them!

Developer

I currently have the text that tells you what can be picked up being set by the items themselves, but separately, the character’s raycast is determining what actually gets picked up. I think I need to combine both into a single function to stop it from picking up the wrong items, the way it’s working now is probably what’s causing the issue.

Later on, I’m planning to turn that area into a full little street where you can walk down to a store and buy cleaning supplies. I don’t like putting invisible walls in the game, but I’ll add something that logically blocks off the street, maybe a car crash or a film set barricade or something like that.

I lost the watering can halfway when I dropped it, nevertheless it's a good idea. Had fun exploring the different rooms and the outside.

Honestly I am not sure if I achieved the objective of the game but I had a fun time. Honestly I was kind of hypnotized by it haha so good job.

When I went to pick up the phone, I pressed e and nothing  happened.. also I went outside and when I saw my own shadow I realized the player model is just a bean...

Developer

I think um my rush to submit I forgot to chang the place holder text to "" so it's showing the press e to pick up befor your actually at the phone 😅 you need to be looking at the phone befor you can answer it,

And yes the character is a bean didn't have time to model and animate the play body , will be doing so later though and upgrading the bean after the jam, left the bean though so you can tell the time off the shadow of yourself.

Developer

Just managed to get this submitted in time for GMTK Jam!

Keep Me in the Loop is a short game where you're left to house-sit for a friend… who didn’t exactly keep you in the loop.
You can either keep the place tidy and score high or trash it completely and see how low you can go.
The game runs for 12 minutes (which represents 24 in-game hours).

I’m planning to expand it post-jam with:

  • A fish to take care of 🐟

  • A dog to look after 🐶

  • And maybe even some sneaky neighbours stealing garden flowers 🌼

For now, it's a jam build with the basics  hope you enjoy it!
