How does your game fit the theme?
It made me think of spritesheet animation loops. So you basically collect frames and create your own animation loops!

That's a very unique take on the loop theme of this jam, also executed quite well. I wish the animation editor was more involved, as it is not that hard to get it by just trying all combinations until something sticks. I think making it just a little bit more vision-focused would go a long way here. Another thing already mentioned is the checkpoints - feels a bit annoying to go all the way again after death.
Nice submission to the jam!
Nice concept
The concept is really unique, I don’t think I’ve seen a game that uses animation loops like this before! One suggestion would be to maybe add checkpoints at certain areas, as I did die a few times:,). I also forgot that Tab was used to close the animation screen, so I had to restart from the beginning. I think it’s really creative to use the animation sprites. I do think the game could be adjusted so the animation sprite order isn't given away right away, and I could also see a puzzle being made from it. I really like the concept, and the art is great too!
So cool
Good game with a really unique idea
Amazing game!! The idea is great and the game is so much fun! I gotta say the animation kinda reminded me of the animation I made for our game (although you did it better XD)
What a delightfully creative premise, and it was executed so well! The play length was perfect for a Gamejam, the art style was beautiful and the audio was solid. Congrats on such a solid achievement! I hope this submission gets the attention it deserves, it's one of my favourites thus far.
Appreciate you very much! I actually wished I could make it longer but as you said for a gamejam it's fine. Very happy to be in your favorites!
like a few people here i couldn't figure out how to get out of the animation screen (because I instantly forgot I had to press TAB to get to it - figured it out after a reload tho - a button to close would solve this problem)
but what a great theme interpretation! lot of cool things you could do with an idea like this if you decide to develop it further. really enjoyed it. nice work!
Screenshots look so nice but I couldn't figure out how to get past this screen sadly
oh nooo!! To close it you can just use TAB again. That screen is the animation editor. I'm so sorry :/ hope you give it another try
Ah now I got it :) An X button or "tab to close" text would have helped. Great game! Upped my rating ;)
I think the only slightly frustrating part was that the bullet collision was too sensitive. I wanted to get up after dodging the bullet but kept getting hit. Anyway, great work!
Ah such a cute and unique take on the theme. Loved collecting all the frames, I'd play a full game based on this concept for sure!
Such a creative concept! And the execution is so good too, love the level design and animation editor! Great entry!
Very creative idea! Looks very clean and polished. It has a lot of potential, can't wait for more!
Amazing game, original gameplay and love the retro look of the world.
Ok. This is one of my favorite submissions. Such a good interpretation of the theme. This game had a lot of personality (great zippy cameo) and it was great to piece the animations back together and slowly gain access to more of the stage like a metroidvania. I just wish there was more.
I also wished I could do some more gameplay. But figuring out the whole custom animation thing took quite a lot of my time.. The ending was also supposed to be something where you then use all of the actions learned but with not much time left I had to do something simpler.
Anyways it means a lot to me that you took the time to play the game and leave a comment :) I'll be sure to give your game a try as well!
Oh yeah I totally get your quandary. My game has a lot to do with swapping the player character so we spent most of our time working out how to swap between different characters with different weapons and moves and doing the same for the boss character without animations and actions breaking down so there wasn't a lot of time left for the proper game. On the bright side, it helps to give us clear goals if both of us decide to expand these games.
what an awesome idea this is, it hit a bit too close to home since I'm struggling a lot with animations xD
Really enjoyed the Ideas in this. Recreating your platformer moveset out of frames scattered throughout the world is an amazing concept, and has great potential. The controls do feel a bit floaty though, and the animation creator can be easily brute-forced. I could easily see this idea going further, maybe with post-jam updates!
Thanks! yeah the theme made me think of sprite animation loops almost instantly haha
Agreed that it could use some updates. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet tho
But I'm very glad you liked it :)
Such a creative take on the theme, and beautiful execution as well! The art feels really well polished.
thank you, glad you like it! Yeah I used some assets but did a lot of modifications to make them work for me :)
hyped to play it later!!
This was gorgeous, well done!
Quickly! Fix the issue of the unreachable frame above the trampoline! Before submissions close!
this premise is brilliant btw
Thanks for playing my game!
I'm fixing it right now and adding some more stuff to it :)
