This is a very fun idea, and added a new layer of strategy, to an otherwise basic concept, I will coming back to this one for sure!
My game is a cross between Super Mario Galaxy, and Cuphead, if you have any interest!
Commander, as a soldier in-training, it is my honour to say I have high praise for these rounds of gladiatorial combat. The experience was smooth, despite my vision shaking around a bit much. Time also seemed to slow down quite a bit the longer I battled, but I defeated the orb foe before I was frozen in place. My 'echoes' as you have put it were well-rounded and quite balanced over the period of combat, what useful companions, still giving me the thrill of the fight whilst giving me a helping hand!
Admittedly strategy wasn't a problem, circling around the foes and casting fire upon them, although combat was ultimately enjoyable, I most enjoyed smiting the oncoming foes with the druidic staff granted to me (I tried the other weapons but they were less enjoyable, I never knew that druids entertained themselves like this!)
It is also my pleasure to report that the arena was well-constructed, It looks mighty and well-built. The foes were also entertaining, although I do find it odd that you cleaned up their clothes when you knew I would cut through them with the weapons you provided.
The sound of battle was also quite satisfying, although you didn't seem to call on the army band to set the mood.
I appreciate your efforts and the enjoyment you have given, commander! More soldiers should definitely try their hand at this experience soon.
Fun arena game, reminds me of old school newgrounds games so it feels nostalgic. The controls felt intuitive and easy to pick up which is a huge plus in this jam. Would've like to have heard some music to set the tone of the game.
Also non-windows people - you can run the game through steam!
Simple, but cool idea!
smooth to play and chaotic. I initially thought the echo mechanic was too difficult to use to be practical, but using aoe attacks with it can actually lead to some interesting strategy. Unfortunately I couldn't fight the boss, seems like there's some sort of memory leak somewhere (or something like that).
Hi! I'm glad you got to play enough to get the gist of the game before running into the memory leak problem! Nice to hear you found some interesting ways to play the game as well. Thanks for playing :)
So cool!
I like the art and the concept! This would be even stronger if it was easier to keep track of everything, I often lost track of my cursor so it was hard to aim
This was pretty good, I liked the gameplay. the game started lagging when there were a lot things being instantiated though or maybe the speed of player was decreased. Having different weapons was a good idea. The player gets stuck a bit at the bottom of screen, I got surrounded there.
Hi and thanks for playing the game! Yes there sadly seems to be a memory leak problem, it's really annoying. Hope you got to play enough to get the gist of the game! :)
Gets really chaotic (in a fun way) when there's a bunch of enemies and echoes
This game is so fun when the echoes are all going wild! The different weapons are a nice touch, and really shine when the echoes are all wielding various types of them!
