Liked the Idea of looping through the same environment with different upgrades each time. It was a bit hard for me to find coins at the start. And I died a lot of times to spikes that were off screen when i fell on top of them, which was frustrating since it kicked me back into the vending machine where I couldn’t buy anything. Apart from that it was a fun game.

Developer

Yep those are all really valid concerns. Glad you still had fun though!

Here's a video of my playthrough, which contains my feedback. I play your game at 48:10

Thanks for the feedback! I def received a good amount of comments about the blind jumps and how the controls feel so that's something I'll improve on. Glad you like the core concept though!

A nice concept. First off, I wasn't able to play full screen so it was hard to navigate. The jump is too high and sometimes there are a lot of 'leap of faiths'. A decent attempt, but it needs some polish. See you in the next jam!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I agree not being able to play in fullscreen is annoying, kind of just introduces artificial difficulty based on the size of your screen.

Pretty fun but  should have cranked up the speed. Too floaty jumps, although maybe a way to have floaty jumps but controlled because it did lead to  some cool mechanics like a semi wall jump / boost that gave me some fun hang time.  Need to make the level design a little more fair ( or I just not good : ) got a bit frustrated with the toggling platforms so need it more forgiving. But overall a good experience and like the inventory integration. vending machines made me smile. And easy to understand and no bugs.

Thanks for your feedback! I agree that the jumps can be floaty at times (which can be a no for platformers) but my thinking was that the full control of your left/right movement allows the player good control. I appreciate the feedback for the platforms, I had a type of platform which was solid for longer than it's empty which perhaps I could've used more than the 50/50 which most of the toggle blocks were. Thanks for playing!

Cute game! The music in the shop menu was very adorable and a great contrast to the spookier ambience of the dungeon. I love the cover art as well!

Developer

Thanks so much! Credit goes to the people who made the music but I did think the contrast was quite funny. And I'm really happy as well with the cover art.

Good concept and the right scope for what seems to be your first game. The platforming physics definitely need a bit of polish, but some potentially unintended mechanics actually ended up being a lot of fun, like how the velocity gained from the air jump is additive, not absolute. Some of the best mechanics like bhopping or rocketjumping were born from turning bugs into features.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I playtested with some friends and decided that it's more fun to allow the player to jump around (the powerups are meant to be quite good so I'm very happy for them to be a bit op).

Fun to have to timed the platform.

Shop system is good add of dept.

Wish it has more Loop theme.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I would've liked to add some more shop items but decided these were the easiest ones to implement and I didn't want to overwhelm the player.

So true. The scope is very important especially for quick game for Game Jam.

Charming little game, but lots of blind jumps can get a bit frustrating

Developer

Thanks, that's fair, I suppose that I do kind of want the player to learn a little bit by experience. Perhaps I could've expanded the scope of the camera but there are certain areas of the map that I think you do have to die some times to figure it out (which I'm okay with).

Pretty good little platformer. It took a bit to understand what to do, but figured it out eventually. Good job!

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback! In hindsight, I could've added a quick basic tutorial with the controls and goals.
