- GDD This is one of the most detailed GDDs I have ever seen. Everything was detailed there. Great documentation keeping Gameplay In its simplicity, the gameplay adds a lot of depth. It's easy to learn, but mastery comes with effort. After a while I developed a system of how long to shine the light and techniques to save all the ships; the difficulty increase is super good. Sound and art design I loved the art style used. Black and white, but very expressive. The sound design exacerbated the loneliness of being a lighthouse keeper. Isolated, yet responsible for so many lives Little thoughts I really enjoyed my experience with this game; outstanding work.

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes
Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes
Summarize your game!
You are the last lighthouse keeper on a storm-ravaged island, using only one button to guide ships to safety while an ancient creature lurks beneath the waves, demanding impossible choices of who lives and who dies.
You must rotate the light beam of the lighthouse to save ships, that after some time will be on their way.
Control scheme is a single button (SPACEBAR by default). Hold it to rotate the beam, consuming "fuel", release it to shine the light in the ships and recover the fuel.
The game story tries to lean on psychological horror, isolation and the unfair choices that some must make
Please explain how your game fits the theme.
I tried to use the theme as much as possible, both in the technical and non-technical ways.
The color palette is only 1 bit (2 colors)
The sound design is based on chiptunes and single notes or tones
The control scheme is only one button
The "character" is alone
You only have one light to make use of, and must choose who gets it.
You many times will only have one chance to save a ship
The game narrative is meant to explore themes of isolation, regret, and how you don't get seconds chances ins many situations in life.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
This was a first of many things for me, but in particular about the difficulty curve, having no playtesters made the task of tuning it very hard.

Cool game; I liked the idea! Really plays into the jam theme
Thanks, I tried to see how much I could do with the theme.
Thank you for your time checking out The Last Light!
Nice simple concept with good stakes/hook! The simple controls fits in with the theme nicely too. I reached day 8 before a bug ended my run:
Shoot, I thought I fixed that bug. It is kind of like you said, it lost track of the remaining ships, I intend to work a bit more on this game so it is good feedback.
And about the ancient creature, It should have a chance of appearing after day 5, but it seems the chance may be too low right now.
Thanks for checking out The Last Light!
I really like the idea and the art looks very good. Simple and easy to learn but entertaining. Once I figured out the control with the space button and how I have to manage my fuel, I was going around saving all the ships :D
Maybe the Game could have been a little bigger size wise but that would mean to tune it all over again and at some point I realised that I can shine the light to the arrows and save ships before they are visible on the screen. This felt a little like cheating the system but it was not disrupting the gameplay.
Great work !
Thank you for the feedback.
Yeah, I wanted to go bigger and make some systems more fleshed out but time constraints and work got me hard. Still, I am happy there was some enjoyment with my submission. I already have a bunch of ideas and fixes for some mechanics.
Thanks for your comment and time playing The Last Light.
I just realised that my sentence is misleading. I meant window size with size wise .
The limited time is always an issue for our entries too. This is our third game jam and we always run out of time and I think this year's theme can be very constraining
