I really like what you created here. Effectively reducing the resolution with your shader had me constantly questioning if there was something hiding in front of me that I just couldn't see and I mean that in the best way possible. Similarly, the geometry casting dark shadows into the corners that were around my height had me looking back frequently to make sure what I saw really was a shadow. It really plays with the mind and I think that's a mark of a good horror game. The only criticism I have is that some sections felt a little too far away like the pyramid's stairs and the upper ledge past it. The only reason I think that could be bad in this case is because it made me not want to explore the environment much since I knew it would take a while to walk back where I was supposed to go.
Thank you so much for feedback!<3
I'm so glad you enjoyed our small (
big) experience:>That is blessing to hear :3
We definitely will revisit the design of our locations,
everything was made in a big haste with a lot of stuff just cut out,
so I absolutely agree with your point.
If you have a chance to answer,
did you realize the path, what was shown with lights?
We spot that a lot of players find it really not clear.
Yep, I didn't have any trouble following the lights. I could see the white glow from pretty far away and figured that's where you intended me to go. In fairness, I've also played a lot of atmospheric horror games so I may just be more use to how they tend to lead you.
I could maybe see the second loop, where you need to go down the lower set of steps instead of the ones straight ahead, might get missed if someone happens to be looking in the wrong direction though.
art style ✨✨
love the artstyle, really liked the parts when I didn't know what I was seeing and I understood when I got closer. Also the sound atmosphere is great gg
Thank you very much for review <3
I guess now it's clear why I was a bit shocked how similar concepts of our games:>
The artstyle is definitely very unique. However I was completely lost on what to do, controlling the character was not intuitive for me. But it looks very cool, the characters as graphics!
Thank you for the review!
It's definitely more a test of limits for artstyle,
but anyway, really appreciate your feedback!
We will take a bigger look at recognizability of surroundings!
Reminds me of when I was trying to make audio-only games. I can't say this would work for people who aren't very good at spatial recognition. Even having that, I fell off the map and it took me a while to realize that there was no way back. There needs to be a bit more feedback to actions; while the audio cues were important, I don't think they alone can be effective guidance.
Appreciate the feedback! And yeah, I think we did a decent job with the ambience but the feedback-specific audio left a bit to be desired. We ended up scoping down a bit towards the end so a lot of features like a fatal fall trigger weren't implemented in time. Thanks for checking out the project tho!
Really really mesmerising. Using the Ascii renderer to label a space with a specific word is also just so cool
Ha cheers mate, we were happy to see that aspects of the Ascii really shine in certain locations
Thank you for review <3
I am really glad you liked that idea as well!
We were thinking to play more with pallets to tell a story more🔥🔥🔥
Looks like a lot of work on your end, but it does get a bit confusing to navigate and keep on playing
Thanks for review!)
We would take it in mind for future!
I will agree that we did a poor job at explanation,
technically feeling of confusing, frustration and unknown was a part of meaningless loop what game offer:>
Anyway thanks for playing <3
really gorgeous work -- megastructures are endlessly fascinating to me and i love the idea of maintaining one.. youve created a lovely experience here and the shader also is so cool
We are glad you enjoy this experience!🥰 We will be happy to see everyone in the future of this project!>
I absolutely LOVE this! I love the art style and the semi-3d effects it gives. The default mouse sensitivity being low seems to be (I think) meant to diminish the sense of control in the player. The interpretation of the theme is a little bit loose in my opinion, but I do appreciate the effort to not be the same as all the people who interpreted the theme in a more typical way. Overall, I really hope you can extend this into some kind of short psychological horror game, as the art style could easily put the game in an uncanny valley and create a great atmosphere for a horror game even if the rooms and setting were very basic in theming. Overall, great job!
Thanks for the kind words! You could probably tell we were a bit pressed for time near the end but we're still super happy with the result, and also glad you enjoyed :^)
We really appreciate your feedback!
We would love to add more features and gameplay aspects, but time was really limited :<
But we will definitely try to implement all ideas in the future! Thanks for review <3
Ps: And thanks for sensitivity feedback, we forgot to mention that you can open setting menu by pressing escape!:>
