Really digging this! The game reminds me of hours spent adjusting orbits in Kerbal Space Program, except here it’s nicely boiled down to the fun and immediately actionable parts.

I like the scale of the puzzles and their freeform nature. Honestly my only gripe is having to remember and fiddle with controls without having the ability to display them on screen, but it’s a really minor nitpick.

Above all - Congrats on finishing your first jam game! It’s really great and I’ll be looking forward to whatever you make next.

Maaan I love the vibe of this. The physics are a little wibbly and hard to get the hang of, but it's fun just watching my little network connecting and disconnecting between nodes. If you choose to expand on it, it would be cool to have like, different networks with different transmission beam colors so you're connecting Station A to Station B with green beams and Station C to Station D with orange beams, etc.

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm considering expanding the game but I'm not decided yet, we'll see what happens. I like the idea of having separate colours because it adds to the visual spectacle, maybe You can place satellites for different companies in the same system or something.

Being a space nerd, I think that was a lot of fun. It took a minute to get the hang of the controls. I would play more levels!

Developer

Space is pretty sweet :^)

nice game i like the concept :D

Developer

Thank you I appreciate it

The rocket controls are a little difficult to get used to, but once you get the hang of using the time multiplier the game is fun. I appreciated the option to change controls.

Developer

Thank you for playing. I thought your game was super cool.

Cool game! I love that you made it so that you can see the orbit that the rocket takes. You made some fun levels and i wish you made more than three. I don't know why but the game window was bigger than my screen and i couldn't change it. Great game with fun planet physics simulation.

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it. You can change the resolution of the game in the settings.json file though it will probably make things looks a bit off because it was implemented last minute in a hacky kind of way. Achieving resolution settings in pygame is non trivial AFAIK but I would like to have a system like that if I participate in another jam.

I LOVE the idea!! the controls of the rocket are kind of cumbersome, i'd like to have some kind of "assist" to align to a planet speed, but otherwise really great

Developer

Thank you. The cumbersome controls are a consequence of the physics, it's just kinda how rockets work. It would be cool to add some more systems to assist the player in maneuvering, I think thats a big flaw in the game.

Something I noticed is that boosting to a high velocity, then turning to the opposite direction and boosting results in the rocket accelerating on the wrong direction, like if you were applying a speed multiplier regardless of the current direction?

Correct me if I'm wrong but boosting on the opposite direction should immediately amortize the rocket velocity instead of making the rocket faster. This might help quite a lot with the controls actually haha

Developer

It doesn't behave that way for me. The rocket will slow down eventually, though if your velocity is super high it could be pretty futile. It just takes time to cancel out your current momentum with reverse thrust. Boosting in the opposite direction should not immediately amortize the velocity because the rockets thrust is often not powerful enough to immediately do so. If you were dropped off the back off a truck at highway speeds on a bicycle facing backwards to your direction of travel and started peddling it would take some time before you were able to slow down and eventually start moving in the direction of your facing.

Submitted

i'll explain what i noticed again: the moment i press boost (spacebar), the acceleration ALWAYS increases at first in the direction of the current velocity. Meaning that if i'm going on a straight line until i reach a high speed, turn the rocket the other way around, and press boost, the rocket will accelerate in the direction of its velocity. The physics behaviour would be to immediately start accelerating in the opposite direction, but here there is a few frames of acceleration (can't debug it for sure, but it looks like it's the very frame where i'm pressing spacebar). The physics behaviour is fine afterwards.

So yeah not a problem of velocity, just acceleration.

awesome jam game. cool idea and well executed. it’s a bit tricky at first to get the hang of the rocket and creating orbits, but after a few minutes, it feels really nice. great work! would like to see where this could go if you expand on it more

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Your game is one of my favourites I've played.

Took me a minute to wrap my head around the mechanics, but once I did, it was really satisfying to see everything working together. The atmosphere and visuals fit perfectly with the gameplay — great job!

Developer

Thank you for taking the time to figure it out. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

love the concept but I'm too stupid :)

Developer

Thank you for trying it. I don't think you're stupid it's just not very intuitive.

Submitted

Oh wow, such a cool concept. Very intuitive yet super hard. Love to see more of that!

Developer

Thank you for trying my game!

The file crashed when I tried to load the game. It also crashed when I tried to delete it. It is probably a bug, but doyou know why this might have happened? Your games concept and artstyle seem really cool and I would really like to try it.

Developer

I'm honestly not sure. What OS are you playing on? For it to crash when you delete it is pretty weird too. I'm sorry it didn't work for you.

Submitted(+1)

Oh, dont worry. It proably was a bug. Maybe  I did a something wrong while downloading. Good luck in the jam though. I will try another device. Maybe thats the problem.

I really enjoyed the whole simulation of your game. The game is quite challenging and unintuitive at first but after 5min, I managed to do quite a few things! Well done!!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you were able to figure it out. Thank you for playing my game!

Amazing game! I love the physics simulation of orbiting the planets and moons and the atmosphere of the game.

It was tricky and challenging to navigate the rocket and deciding where to place the satellites at first. But once everything is connected, it feels very satisfying to just sit back and watch the satellites orbiting and connecting to each other.

Developer

Thank you for playing my game. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was afraid nobody would like it because its a bit unintuitive.
