Fun concept and nice idea! reminds me alot of touhou (comes with the bullet hell territory lol). I enjoyed playing
:D

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yup, Touhou was certainly a major influence lol,

Nice idea, just did not get how to if Im somehow dodging the enemy projectiles. The music ends after fist bosss. GG

Developer(+1)

Bullet dodging is semi-automated (Yome will dodge slightly herself), and she can be moved more directly by circling targets or the nodes on each side of the level. Thanks for playing!

Great concept! I am a big fan of Okami and its drawing mechanic, and believe there is something there to keep exploring, so I am always in for games that play with that, like the spells in this one!

If I had to give feedback, it would be to add enemy variety that interacted better with the main mechanic, like one getting invulnerable if you drew a loop with another extra enemy on it, or one that messed with your loops to introduce some kind of enemy priority to the player.

I really liked the idea of the crystals on the sides to give positioning control to the player, which is often important in shmups. Also, I liked the resolution at the end haha. Good work!

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! Enemy variety is definitely a problem here haha, so many of the fundamental systems took up enough time that enemy design was pushed to the last ends of the jam time. Those are some good ideas too - I was thinking boss mechanics involving looping specific enemies together, and bullets that break your loop line, stuff like that!

Thank you for playing!!

I wish there was a little more variety in enemies, but I thought the ending was pretty funny.

Developer

Hahaha thanks!!! I think we're going to keep working on it to solve some problems like the bosses dying to quick, more levels, more polished mechanics - and definitely lean into the characters having some silly dialogue! Thanks for playing all the way through!!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Kinda wild, but so much work was put into the enemy, bullet, and level keyframe systems that we didn't even get to starting making enemies until maybe 12 hours before the deadline!! Lots more enemy ideas floating in our heads for further development!

SICK GAME! Had a lot of fun playing it, and the circling mechanic is sooo cool!

Developer

Glad you liked it! Thanks for playing!!

really good game, good aesthetic, good music , i liked the spell system  but the second boss died too fast form the first time i thought is bug but the second time it died two fast too(first time  220ms and second time 660ms if i remember correctly) . Also when you die in boss fight and continue the the timer restart for that fight

Developer(+1)

Yup, the bosses are unfortunately toooootally bugged, something that must have slipped by us in the late hours of testing and fixing cuz at one point they weren't like that lol. Thank you for playing!

Very unique implementation of the theme! I also really enjoyed the music

Developer

tyfp!!!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm pretty proud of the looping mechanic we came up with!

Submitted(+2)

Very nice implementation of the theme into the bullet hell genre. Had lots of fun seeing Yome zip across the map to snipe everything. Music felt very fitting. Great job!

Developer

thanks for playing :D

Developer

Thanks! It was tough to sort out exactly how the looping would fit in, at first we thought we might control Yome's flight like normal plus use the loop for attacks, but it was way too much to handle! Thus, Wawa was born haha.

This gameplay is so addicting. Unsure if this is just a me problem but the music did stop after I died and restarted. didnt affect my scoring. So fun!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, unfortunately the music loop is broken on the web version... Thanks for playing!

Developer

Glad you had fun!!! TYFP

the gameplay is really addicting, alongside with the music i found myself wanting to keep playing after i die, great job on this :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you think the gameplay is that enticing!

I was happy to see there was any touhou-style music on opengameart at all haha

this great, it's very creative take on the theme and I could see it being fleshed out into an addictive mobile game.

Developer

That's a piece of feedback our friends IRL have said too, we'll definitely be considering it! Thanks for playing!

Developer

Thank you ^^ we def wanna work on it more

This game is really cool but after the music ends it doesn't loop again but it's fine overall it's a very fun game

Developer (1 edit)

Haha might be a html export moment, it loops and also has a shooting sfx on pc executable. Thanks for playing!
