How does your game fit the theme?
STAPER LOOP explores the theme of "Loop" through its visuals, audio, mechanics, and narrative. Visual Loop – The character Jeffery continuously rotates in a looping animation, reinforcing the idea of constant motion and repetition. Audio Loop – When the player collects a vinyl, it triggers a looping piece of music. The loop continues and evolves only when another vinyl is collected, creating a layered, ever-changing soundscape based on repetition. Gameplay & Narrative Loop – The story follows Jeffery, who is called to save Staper, a planet cursed by the Loop Lord and trapped in an endless cycle. When the player dies or runs out of time, the game restarts—placing them right back into the loop. This mechanic emphasizes the cyclical nature of the world, both in gameplay and story. Through its animation, music, and gameplay structure, STAPER LOOP is fundamentally built around the concept of loops—both literal and metaphorical

The OGs call him Jim

Clearly this game has very deep lore, and from what I understand, the Loop Lord is the one who cursed the planet Staper. However! Why, when you collect all the "Vinils" and save Staper, does he thank Jeffery? This requires an in-depth game theory episode for sure.

FUN FACT: Originally, STAPER LOOP was meant to include clones that replay the player's past actions every 5 seconds—adding another layer to the loop concept. Due to time constraints, this mechanic didn’t make it into the jam version!

FUN FACT no.2: The name “Staper Loop” was actually born from a typo.

While texting a friend “Does this game fit the theme ‘Loop’?”, the sentence came out as: ''Ci staper loop?"

It sounded weird… but weird in a good way
So the name stuck—because in a jam about loops, even a typo can come full circle...

FUN FACT no.3: The game's concept changed 4 times during development—mechanics, setting, story, all shifted.
But one thing never changed: Jeffery.
…well, okay—he was called Jim at first.
But the dude with the “I” shirt stuck around through every version, just like any good loop should. The iconic spinning animation wasn’t planned. It was actually suggested by a friend at the last minute… and it became the soul of the game.

FUN FACT no.4: In the trailer (wich is a satire way to imitate 90's commercials) The logo on a cartridge was an old unused logo, Looking more like an old NES game. Since i didn't have time, i never got to change it. Actually: Almost everything in the trailer is old, but please don't judge me for that!
