This was really cool and I feel like I got really close to figuring it out, but I wasn't able to do anything complex. I think besides a tutorial that many other people have already said, this game needs an easier way to test what you're doing. Being able to see the board and the tanks at the same time would help a lot, and the wires should definitely stay in place when you restart. (also removed wires shouldn't add to your total wires)

But I just have to give props for even coming up with this idea in the first place, it's such a great idea and implemented really well.

Agreed, originally I was planning on adding values when you hovered, a better tutorial and things like that, but I ended up having to attend to other stuff over the game jam period. Being able to see the tank and control board at the same time would also be great.

If the game gets enough positive ratings and ranks high enough on the game jam to where I feel there's enough interest though I'll continue working on the idea including improving the tutorial.

Instructions unclear, tank keeps shooting bullets..

While I admit that the tutorial isn't 100% fleshed out since I had to attend to other stuff over the game jam period, it was explained why the tank keeps on shooting bullets. The ENIAC runs on a loop where the inputs repeatedly fire.

Also, thanks for noticing the art style. I made sure to give each character a different art style within chibi and planned on pairing it with the music they would've enjoyed, but sadly I didn't have enough dialogue or time for that lol

Interesting unique stuff, but very hard without tutorial. At least description of all tabs in description of the game would be really nice. Like Rotation - where is zero, left, right, up? Turret rotation - Is it in local or in global? Coordinates - from where to where and how much? Player-enemy angle - bigger than zero is to right or to left? Stuff like that.

Agreed, I really wish I had more time to flesh out the tutorial, but I'm glad you enjoyed :D 

The idea was that without a tutorial, you could explore on your own, but I understand how that can be difficult especially without a visual on the different values of each input and output. Temporarily, I can answer for now. All values are integers (no decimals or negative numbers) with 10 digits that'll loop over. Rotation is in degrees with 0 degrees being facing right. Turret rotation is local. Coordinates start from the top left which is (0, 0) using traditional coordinate systems often used in graphics and warfare, and for Player-enemy angle bigger than zero can be either to the left or right, bigger than 180 is to the right, and if you don't want to implement more complex logic you can do player locking rotation onto the enemy by hooking up Player-enemy angle to Left or Right rotation.

fun concept, would love to play a fun version of this

i think a tutorial with "connect this together and then this will happen" seeing the results with the tanks would make wonders

also, seeing the board and the tanks in the same screen would be nice as well

Agreed, originally I was interested in developing a better tutorial and more compact system that was still somewhat "static" similar to the actual ENIAC, but I didn't have time since I had  to attend to some other things I wasn't expect so 😅

Thanks for noticing, I don't usually do chibi, but I got some references and even made them different styles for their personalities (I was originally planning to pair the music of their era to it too, but there wasn't enough dialogue or time for that.)

I managed to beat the 5 levels. An interesting concept, but the execution could use some work. The core was always something along the lines of face-and-shoot, and I’d be curious to see what other kinds of puzzles could come out of this framework. Maybe having a constant number that we can set among our input signals could allow us to use comparisons more deliberately, and open up design possibilities. I’ve enjoyed the introduction quite a bit too. Well done!

Agreed. I was planning on adding some constant numbers and a system for creating integrated circuits for more complex operations so that I could add more limitations like limited bullets, but I didn't have enough time. I'm glad you enjoyed the game though.
