I wish I was a guy digging a hole into a rock

Me too!

A shame you got rushed cuz I think you've really got something here! With a bit longer loops and the ability to mine sideways this could scratch a lot of people's brains the right way, also I think that being able to walk over to a shop between loops would really enhance the immersion!

Developer

Thank you so much for the advice!!

Very interesting, I like the idea!

Thank you!

I like the shop and ore currency idea! And I like all of the variety in the ores you can mine! I wish there was a way to mine left + right as well!

Developer

Thank you!!

The core idea is interesting for the jam theme, but the loops are quite short and you cannot really do much other than spam click to mine and purchase upgrades. Because of how little you can see of the scene from the top, there isn't even really any strategy in picking where you start digging down. I think if you had a little more time to iterate on the idea it could be fun to play!

Developer

Thank you!!

The concept is there, but the gameplay is lacking. Because you can't move left or right, every iteration is simply hoping that you get lucky and ores spawn beneath you. This also incentivizes just using an autoclicker and not playing at all. Were you to have some more freedom of movement, the game would be much more enjoyable. Also, the initial time restriction is too short, and the time upgrade too expensive. You need to play for quite some time to get the first upgrade and it becomes quite monotonous.

I don't mean to discourage, though, so congrats on getting a game in and hope you're feeling better now.

Thank you for the advice, i didn't have anyone else but me to playtest this game so that is probably the reason  why the game is let's say 'difficult' , thank you for playing, and thank you for your kind wishes!

Would be cool if you could dig the right and left. Also the shop prices are way too high i think. Cool graphics tho.

Developer

That was the plan but... :/ , Thank you for playing!

My criticism might feel a little harsh, but I'll give you the advice you asked for!
It *is* very repetitive. It would be interesting if something changed every loop, like if your tunnels persisted. It reminded me a lot of Motherlode, and I think that making the ability to move left and right more impactful--like mining sideways--would add a lot. For game jams specifically, most people aren't going to play your game for more than a few minutes so it's important to give them interesting stuff to do right off of the bat. The upgrades are priced a little high, the loop timer is a little low, and it feels like a lot of clicking for little reward. Adding an autoclicker would save a lot of people's wrists and let people explore the game more.

That being said, making games is hard and this is still a good attempt! Great job submitting, and hope you feel better soon <3

Thank you so much for the advice, it means a lot, i had an idea to have the player mine sideways but that plan fell down the drain once i got sick and couldn't get 3 lines of code correct :/ ,  but the game is the game so thank you for playing my game and for making time to comment and give me such an advice, it wasn't harsh and it will be quite usefull in my next project so thank you again, also thank you for your kind wishes! <3

The upgrades are what kept me to keep digging. This is a cool concept and has some potential. Hope you feel better!

Developer

Thank you for your kind wishes and i'm glad you enjoyed it!

Creative concept, but the gameplay is repetitive and un-interactive, and a bit long for a jam game, But it kept me wanting to continue playing! sad to hear you are having health issues, I wish you to feel well <3

Thank you for your kind wishes and also thank you for the advice!
