How does your game fit the theme?
In the game, you continuously repeat the cycle of life in three phases—child, adult, and elder—because each time you die and are reborn you earn skill points to upgrade your race’s attributes. Additionally, another core mechanic involves looping by spinning around the trunk. These two mechanics are essential to the gameplay experience.

Very cute game! Amazing art and gamefeel. <3
Thanks so much for trying the game! I'm really glad you played it! :)))))
🔥 This is SO GOOD.
super derpy character and the sound design adds a lot of charm lol! cool mechanic paired with addictive gameplay makes for a winner game in my books. great job!
if you have time, id really appreciate it if you could give me some feedback on my game (/jam/gmtk-2025/rate/3780834) - its my first game jam and im looking to get better!
5 stars all around! super addicting and super fun!
this is super addicting -- this also may have cured my fear of monkeys.... just adored the aesthetics and gameplay loop. great job!!
It so addictive! I really like the concept, it was a little difficult to dodge all those obstacles at first but quickly became fun, and the feeling of reaching the top of the tree for the first time was so worth it :)). Also those monkey sounds are very hilarious xD
I think the art is cool!
first time seeing banana on a coconut tree :D
Fun gameplay loop! Also the CRT effect will always be classic
Dude, kudos for this one - such a fun yet easily replay-able gameplay loop. Only thing I could suggest is what others already have: a soul total. Maybe in the form of a jar that appears the first time you get one? How does one store souls anyway? Asking for a friend :)
Thanks so much! I’m really happy you enjoyed it and found it fun to replay. About the soul counter—that’s actually a great idea! I thought showing them as gravestones would be a fun twist instead of just a number, but I can definitely see how having a total (like in a jar) would be helpful.
And, well… let’s just say I already asked my lawyer that exact question—also “for a friend.” He told me it’s better if I don’t know, haha :)
The game is very good... good in the way a blue monkeys final breath is good
After gathering all his golden bananas, only to realize it was but a prelude to his own sacrifice..
feeding a wretched cycle where glory is just the glint of the knife
Delightful appreciation........ :)
A very cute game with a lovely aesthetic! I didn't realize going left and right was spinning around the tree, but once I figured that out it was so much fun. Wasn't sure how to purchase upgrades but I had a great time! Great job!
Thank you so much for playing! Regarding the upgrade system—did you mean it was a bit confusing at first but you eventually figured it out, or that you never managed to interact with it? If it’s the latter, let me explain so you can enjoy the full experience: click on the banana box while you’re collecting them. After a few, a shovel will appear… and I won’t spoil anything else. If you liked the aesthetic, you’re going to have a great time with it. If I misunderstood your comment, my bad—but still, thanks so much for your comment!
Ah, I understand! I wasn't able to get many bananas so I never saw the shovel or where to get the skulls from. I absolutely love the aesthetics, it's so cute haha. I love that it came from a drawing from the past.
The part I was confused about but then figured out was dodging the coconuts by moving left or right. The transition was so sudden so I thought they just vanished when I moved left to right, but I realized that I was rotating around the log. I thought I was just moving my head slightly left or right.
Overall great game!
I recommend giving it another try knowing that—it’s literally half of the game! A lot of people who don’t realize it at first later tell me the game gets so much better, haha. I’m really happy to read all your comments; constructive feedback will always help me improve future projects <3
Okay, I gave it another shot. Wow, that is a great game! A few notes:
- Poor cute young monkey got older and then dies :(
- The monkey says "Wuh, huh?" I'm sad now lol
- Fantastic game loop, I couldn't stop myself so I killed that monkey like 10 times to get better upgrades LOL
Overall fantastic game, great job!
the gameplay is really fun, as well as the aesthetics. its very addicting ":3
The theme was really well implemented and nice idea that generations of monkeys climbed this tree. I had a hard time with the seagulls but that's just my skill. The RCT shader is a good choice. Feels very fitting.
I’m glad even a seagull enjoyed my game :)
I feel like the speed upgrade feels a tad weird. Speedup also means the incoming coconuts are also falling quicker, making it much harder to react to them. Might be also just placebo but just in case, I would not speed them up or rather just very minor. It made it a tad more frustrating. At the same time seagulls however became entirely irrelevant to the gameplay as I could just outclimb them. Last but not least, I was not sure how many souls I had and also the end goal was a bit unclear. I initially through it was an endless game until i well, reached the end of the game. Regardless of that I enjoyed it a lot. Very thematic, I appreciate the post processing and the sound design is on point. Very well put together jam game, congrats on it!
Thank you so much for your comment and, above all, for playing and finishing the game. The coconuts don’t actually fall faster when you buy the speed upgrade; the only thing I can think of is that since your character moves upward more quickly, the coconuts end up reaching you sooner, as both are moving in opposite directions.
Regarding the seagulls, I personally find it satisfying to simply be able to ignore them, and that makes speed just as important as having more health or a wider field of view—especially since seagulls are pretty annoying at the start, haha.
As for the soul counter, that’s indeed an issue. I thought counting them with tombstones would be funnier than just showing a number, but it’s definitely important enough information to display directly to the player, especially as you progress further into the game.
I’m really glad you completed the game—thank you so much! :)
Ah probably thats the case then. I mean im also just sharing my opinion. Those ideas absolutely would need to be playtested. To be fair, for a jam experience this is a certified banger. And I think the thematic tombstones are absolutely great but as you said, a HUD icon probably would make it a tad easier. I looked a bit through comments and I think a few missed how to "upgrade". Which is sad, it was a very funny and morbid system I loved. Im actually also unsure how to do player handholding there without being too much on the nose.
Very cute, like an 8-bit sifu! I love the art style something about the after effects over the MS painty type design is so satisfying, I might have to steal that technique for some of my own work! Trying to think of some constructive critism but honestly I think this was really cool and my only faults would be that I would have liked to see more stuff - but is that really a bad thing? Either way, great game and oh yeah the audio was perfectly matched, very charming!
Took me a little bit to get the mechanic down but once I did I had a lot of fun. Poor elder monkies though :(
Would love to have an upgrade that allows you to see bananas on the other side of the tree! But overall a super fun game that would feel really great on mobile!
The gameplay is so simple but very addicting! I like the aging mechanic as progression. Kind of morbid, but also I'm happy Jeremy is working towards a brighter future for the next monkey generation.
I love the main idea. It gives me Fez nostalgia, and I think the artwork and presentation is imaginative and cool. Nice work!
I never could get far enough to qualify for any of the upgrades, but from what I did see of the game the artwork is very cute, and the screenshots are showing a lot of personality as the game progresses.
Oh! Thanks for playing! From what you said, it seems like you might have missed the sacrifice and character evolution mechanics — they’re actually key parts of the game.
At first, without any upgrades, the game can feel a bit confusing or difficult. If that’s the case, focus on collecting bananas. Then, click on the banana box and see what happens :)
If you liked the art style, you’re going to love the full game
