Not gonna lie, I've already spent more time then I should playing the game and only got to 650 score.
The difficulty is high for me, but at no point did I feel like it was unfair - it took me like 5 minutes before I could consistently collect the first clock but after that I didn't have any problem collecting it in every run.
One thing the game really needs in my opinion is a restart popup menu in which you can see your score and/or the highest score counter - this is a kind of game where players might want to share their highest score with other, but as is it might be difficult to even see your score at the heat of the moment.
Great work!
650 is a pretty high score for this! I definitely should have displayed the high score in the reset menu, especially since I already made the loop counter show up there. Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you liked it!
This game is really tough for me! Going down is super fast, going up is super slow, so I can barely collect any points. I kept trying because it's fun, but it's probably too difficult for me.
This is nice art it reminds me on The Legend Of Edgar. I played through that whole game it took forever lol But this is a really nice take on the theme and once you get used to the controls (took a while XD) Then it's pretty fun! Good work. And may we be in the top 100 together brother!
Also I'd appreciate feedback on my submission if you get a chance!
Why do I lose immediately when flying a loop? The game is too difficult for me unfortunately, it took me many tries just to get the first clock. I think the delayed control mechanic of first pitching the jet and it then picking up speed is a really cool idea!
Yeah, I expected the refueling mechanic would cause some confusion. Basically, I wanted to make the fuel gauge a hard time limit for the player to hit the clocks in, but also wanted the refuel to happen after they flew in a loop, so I decided to make any loops that happen before the score target at the top of the screen is reached give a game over because they "wasted" their only chance to refuel, rather than letting them loop/refuel whenever, or having early loops do nothing and making the loops overall feel less impactful. Even I feel kind of confused by my own explanation of that, so I probably should have just let the player refuel as many times as they wanted, or at least communicated it better lol! Thanks for playing!
i loved the atari style of art and mechanics, but i think you have 2 games in there
with some polish and adjusts on the physics, i can see a game were you have to fly close to the ground and hit targets while avoiding crashes; and a game where you have to loop on the air to score points.
the two mechanics aren't really connected in any way, besided that you HAVE to do one then the other right now...
great concept, and could work really well - even keeping both aspects, but integrating them more, in some form
Thank you so much for the feedback! That's a very good point. I liked the idea of incorporating the theme without changing the normal flying inputs, but it definitely could have been more elegantly designed.
A really satisfying game once you get used to the controls. Adding some background music would be a nice touch ;)
Thank you for playing! I wish I did add music and sound effects. I always put off adding audio until it's too late.
Whew, this game is hard. I died three times in a row just trying not to hit the ground or a tree within seconds of restarting and decided I just don't have the fast twitch response needed to play this game. Next year I suggest getting more people to playtest your builds to get a better sense of how difficult your controls are, since the person who makes the game is often unable to perceive the actual difficulty with how familiar they are with how it works.
Yeah, I'm not good at this game either lol! I'll definitely try to do more testing next time. Thanks for playing!
Cool idea! very challenging. I think with smoother rotation it might feel a bit better but had fun! nice work!
Thanks! I tried for a while to make the jet rotate smoothly in a full circle but eventually gave up and started setting it manually like this, lol.
Honestly, this game is really confusing.
I tried explain how everything works in the start screen, but it is pretty janky so I understand the confusion. If you wouldn't mind letting me know what specifically could be made clearer, I'd like to update the description to explain the game better. Thanks for playing.
Well I don't get why I am hitting clocks, the loop is also confusing. Also, the controls are really difficult and the game starts off very difficult, it should start easy but get harder for a more enjoyable experience.
Haha, that was maybe the most fun i've had with a game in this jam. Super difficult but super addicting. It took me so many tries to complete the first loop but once i got a hang of it i was just rollllling.
Thanks for playing!
No problem! Can you also check out my submission. Thanks in advance :)
